Path to Exile! You're back! I've missed you so.
Although I like the fact that it almost needs a quest deck or steel artifact deck to function as path on T1 or T2.

Fanstastic. Absolutely fantastic.

So it's a Path to Exile that probably doesn't have a drawback. Yeah, turn one through three it's probably not as good, but it does let you have have 8 versions of the card in the deck.

FANTASTIC.

Exile for one mana, instant speed. I guess they had to put a condition on it. By the time the stuff that's fun to exile hits the board though you should already be set up to use this.

For the record, an exile that is dependent on metalcraft is NOT as good as an exile that gives the opponent life (Swords). In a vacuum it's probably better than Path, as while Path is more reliable as an exiler it always gives card disadvantage, whereas this can be card-neutral.

Don't get me wrong - potentially decent card, but definitely not as good as Swords.

I already had a casual white Artifact/Tempered Steel deck before I found out about NPH, so I know exactly where my playset of these is going. Definitely the most exciting NPH card in my eyes.

What is strange is that I think with Metalcraft activated is that you still tap the creature, then you exile it. XD

I have been struggling to find enough cards I like to build a serious white/artifact deck. Other than Tempered Steel, I just can't get excited about white cards in this block. This may change that. This won't replaces Swords, as has already been mentioned, but I love Metalcraft abilities.

Swords to POWshare.

I hate the idea of NPH, but I love the fact that I want more commons and uncommons than I do rares.

A swords without a drawback is excellent but its use will be quite limited to certain decks. makes it balanced, I like it. great card.

To do something contrary to the other comments... I don't like it.

For me, neither "tap" nor "exile" should be white. Instead, white should be more peaceful and as MaRo once said: "A color is defined by what it can't do"... and for white this should be killing things.

My version would still work on your own creature as well and doesn't "kill" the target:

Return target creature to its owner's hand.
Condition - If you fulfill the condition, you may put that creature on the bottom of its owner's library instead.

BTW: Some replies mentioned a white artifact deck including tempered steel. That card is great, but shouldn't have been white.

CMC = 1, not much to improve there
metalcraft - so you can't play this card until turn 2 or three for the maximum effect

But then again, so what? It forces you to save it for a better threat than raging goblin. Personally I'm not a fan of removal cards unless they work on anything, and this one does just that. +5

@Cheza
Both tapping and exiling ARE white. Tempered Steel and other effects like it are also white. Seriously, learn the colors. You comment on every single card saying it should be in a different color. If you think everything in Magic is wrong then play a new game or hell go make your own game just stop complaining about every single card being out of color.

@cheza- you said -For me, neither "tap" nor "exile" should be white. Instead, white should be more peaceful and as MaRo once said: "A color is defined by what it can't do"... and for white this should be killing things.

Lets be clear. White doesnt kill. it exiles. And its been doing so for a very, very long time.
You also said-

BTW: Some replies mentioned a white artifact deck including tempered steel. That card is great, but shouldn't have been white.

Why is this? White loves artifacts more than any other color. it also loves enchantments. wtf color would u put it in?
Look, i noticed all your comments are either bashing a card for being in the wrong color, or putting a haste in red, or first strike in white, or congratulating R&D for getting a card right. If you want to make a difference, go to the bottom of this page and click on magicthegathering.com, go to the bottom of that page and click on jobs, and apply.

@cheza

White is the color of the group ("Weenies", working together, helping each other, community and so on) Therefore white is the main color for effects that are beneficial for the group: Honor of the Pure, Tempered Steel, True Conviction and so on

The flavor behind whites tapping is that creature gets arrested/imprisoned/distracted instead of killed. Just look at the artwork of cards with that mechanic in white.

The same works for exiling. Its the best way of doing white removal flavorwise. It basically "bans" a creature instead of killing it: Condemn
Also have a look at the flavor text of dispatch. The creature gets teleported to oblivion.

I know I get low comment ratings every time I mention it, but this is one of those cards Affinity has been waiting for, for a long time. Since you should always have Metalcraft on the board, its a functional reprint of StP. And lets be frank, we did have a little bit of a hard time dealing with Tarmogoyf. And usually (not always, mind you), the decks playing creatures we have a hard time dealing with are not the ones sideboarding in Mental Misstep.

5/5 for me, no contest.

@Cheza: "Return target creature to its owner's hand?" Sounds blue to me -_-

How about this gem from Alpha: "Target creature is removed from game entirely; return to owner's deck only when game is over. Creature's controller gains life points equal to creature's power."

White not only owns exiling, it invented it.

This thing without metalcraft is pretty bad, and with metalcraft its a bamf. In the proper deck its a 5/5 but in any other deck its not played, so I will settle on a fair 4/5...

Can you cast dispatch on a tapped creature? Had my three artifacts out, cast dispatch during the declare blockers phase, but was told that it couldn't be used because the creature needs to be untapped to be a valid target.
TheZigs
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@Kiper- The target is "target creature", not "target untapped creature". Therefore, you'd just be tapping creature that is already tapped. Redundant, but still a valid target for the spell.

Swords to Plowshares with no drawback in the right deck. 4.5/5
