I'm surprised they printed this; I thought they didn't really like flash effects.

Got this guy at the prerelease, but sadly my deck didn't really have what it needed to abuse the ability to flash in artifacts. Still, 2/2 for 3 flash isn't bad by any math, and even if you don't have ways to truly abuse it being able to flash in artifacts is nice icing on the cake.

I vote we rename this Mercury Myr. As in Freddie Mercury.

... So, your artifact lands now have flash?
Rawra

Can even use for later down the road and your opponent forgets about him, due to the fact your artifacts having flash has nothing to due with him staying on the field!

@Bursama No. Your artifact lands do not have flash. They are still lands and as such are bound by the rules that state when you may play a land: Only on your turn, only once per turn, and only when you could cast a Sorcery.

@Bursama: You're not casting artifact lands, because they're not spells, you're putting them into play as lands. So, no, they won't have flash.

Brilliant card. Great for tempting your opponent to over reach and tapping all his creature cards, foolishly thinking he can attack because you have no visible creatures able to block.
@Rawra Who taught you to play? That's like saying if I disenchant Glorious Anthem, your creatures still get +1/+1. Ever heard of static abilities? The only things that function like you say are emblems.

Easy 5/5 between 2/2 for 3 colorless with flash, great ability (new Myr Battlesphere control archetype? Probably not, but it would be awesome), excellent art, and a wonderful flavor text.

my friends told me mirrodin wouldnt stand a chance. until the army of myr appeared on the horrizon with the speed of flash. i agree a suprise blocking battle sphere or platinum emperion will ruin someones day.
Love it with Master Transmuter. Oh look, I'm going to transmute away my Ichor Wellspring, which happens to be castable for 0 thanks to my 2 Etherium Sculptors. And then I'm going to recast it while still at EOT and draw a card. Thanks Shimmer Myr!

Very good but you just want it on the battlefield for the flash effect, not attacking. so a P/T of 1/4 would have been very nice, like they did for the deceiver exarch. Here, it just does to a bolt and even an upcoming shock.
Nonetheless, I love splshing this in reaction with Memnites and Ornithotpers to cast a Tempered Steel my turn, and attack FTW
I'm surprised no one mentioned its legs. Those are horrible looking.

Shimmer Myr + Mana Myrs + Artifact Lands, for those that don't care for standard + Unwinding Clock = Play whatever you want, whenever you want. Clock untaps mana sources, Shimmer Myr allows you to play >:P

Good times is having this guy out with Master transmuter and Memnarch! So here's 2 good questions for the MTG guru lurking.. At least I hope it is.. Can I use Memnarch's 1st ability to change opp's whatever to an artifact, then use his 2nd ability to steal it, then use master t's ability to return it to their hand and put one of my own down? I know what you're thinking: But.. Why? And my answer is, IDK.. Yet.. But it seems like theirs a gem hiding in that combo and I aim to find it. Might require the use of something else I just haven't thought up yet, but back to the question, that's perfectly legal right?? 2nd, can I use Memnarch's 1st ability to change one of my own non artifact perm's to an artifact (let's say its an Island and I want to do some crazy landfall tricks), to return to my hand with Master T to play an artifact and if/when I do, I haven't played a land yet, can I drop let's say a plains, then drop the Island that I turned into an artifact? Obviously in my head, the Island that I returned to my hand with Master T's ability is still an artifact. My question, if I'm being to complex is how long does that island remain an artifact?

@Mike-C: The transmuter says an artifact you control, if you control their artifact you can use the transmuter on it. That's why it says "to owners hand" for just that sort of occasion.

... and then he cast BS Colossus with flash. Or should I call it, BS BS Colossus?
@ Mike-C: That Island stops being an artifact as soon as it leaves the battlefield. But there's always Seat of the Synod.

So like, I'm tinkering around with an artifact deck with these and Lich's Mirror. The idea is that the deck produces huge amounts of mana and floats it through Lich's Mirror's effect, then I play the Shimmer Myr that I hopefully draw... Needs work.

I use this in my Rage Extractor deck. Not only are all artifacts and creatures instant, but so are all the subsequent burns triggered by the Extractor.
Had a lovely stint as a one-of in my Tezzeret deck. Oh, playing around my Mana Leak? Alright then, enjoy the Wurmcoil Engine.

Give an Orrery a 2/2 body and it costs {1} less. :s
To be fair, it was probably overcosted originally and creatures are easier to kill, but at the same time this guy can be gotten from the graveyard with an instant speed Skeleton Shard (respond to removal to put it into play), can be reanimated with Unearth and is essentially a hastey 2/2.
I wish his ability was somehow worded to abuse artifact lands.
