Would be good for Kaalia of the Vast-- Always have something available for her to cheat into play.

Freaking amazing in a Kaalia deck. I had one of these floating around, and was just about to trade it away before I got ahold of the CMD decks. I've made an extremely killer Angel/Dragon/Demon deck, and I usually go searching for this guy as soon as I can. Having every possible tutor known to man in this deck, it's not hard lol.

Then again, Kaalia in GENERAL is a crazy card.

I had this card before it was cool... and before Avacyn Restored's Kaalia.

This guy seems like a nice choice for a Demon deck in general, and also works very nicely with Skirsdag High Priest and Kaalia of the Vast:
Enables Morbid, gets you a big Demon for Kaalia, and then immediately gets back to your hand when you were able to activate the priest's ability.
(Too bad it's not worded "(...) Put a 5/5 black Demon creature token with flying onto the battlefield if a creature died this turn." without the activation restriction. But i guess Wizards was well aware of the fact that this would make the priest a whole lot more powerful.)

Why won't people stop talking about Kaalia? She's not the only general who's good with this. What about Malfegor? Tutor for a Griselbrand, Harvester of Souls or Rune-Scarred Demon for huge draws, then return this to your hand when you play either the demon or Malfegor himself. Furthermore, you can order the triggers at will, so you can opt between returning it before or after Malf's ability resolves (either discarding him so your opponents have to make an extra sacrifice or keeping him so you have a hand of sorts).

Edit: nevermind about Gris, the RC banned him. Replace with Bloodgift Demon.

This card is absolutely insane. If demon based decks (or decks simply using a decent amount of them) are a flame, this guy us pure gasoline. It's so nice to play him, sac next turn for an Abyssal Persecutor then play him again next turn and tutor for something equally as nasty like the new Desecration Demon. A demon every other turn without even needed a land draw for 8 turns is a wonderful thing. All this with only 1 of them out! Not to mention death effects being triggered or having a recurrent creature that can be used as a sacrifice if the need arises.

4 mana to put any demon in your deck right in your hand is an underestimated edge with this card. Even without Kaalia he is a staple, in my opinion, for any demon deck.

Plus he has a decent power to be a blocker as well. Great card, great ability, demonic fun for everyone!

Grisly art, he really did slash his own jugular just to summon the demon!

This + Deathrender? Maaaan. A demon a turn makes opponent's blood churn.

I really like this card. EXCEPT THE ART!!! It looks like my little sister drew it with a pencil crayon. Which is weird because its a newer card.

this card is awesome! in a deck running multiple demons like bloodgift and lord of the pit this can generate some serious card advantage it's like a reusable tutor. Dang!

The very cool Deathrender combo works because Blood Speaker's ability is triggered, not activated. The sacrificing is not a cost, it happens only when the ability resolves.

1. On upkeep, choose to sacrifice Blood Speaker, who is equipped with a Deathrender.
2. After the ability resolves, you have a fine demon in your hand, and Blood Speaker is safely in your graveyard. Deathrender's ability then goes on the stack.
3. Deathrender's ability allows you to put the demon from your hand to the battlefield and attach Deathrender, then the Blood Speaker jumps back to your hand (you aren't even required to cast the demon!)
4a. Cast Blood Speaker, then attach Deathrender. That's 5Black, your only mana cost for this turn, and you get to do it again next turn! I recommend using Heartless Summoning to cut that cost by 2.
4b. If you have a free or cheap way to sacrifice the demon, just leave Deathrender equipped, then sac it on your opponent's end step to get back the Blood Speaker for free. Protip: Oni of Wild Places and Spirit of the Night are the only two demons who naturally have haste.
