This is a great card and all, but any opponent that knows you have it is gonna be waiting for it & will cancel/counter it. You don't usually have the lands left to do anything else afterwords & If you get it out, there are tons of aoe cards out there that will gladly eat up your 1/1 ants. Not to mention, a 6/6 for 8cmc is only good bc of trample now, w/o trample you would want a 9/9 with shroud like Kalonian Behemoth, and its cost is only 7cmc!

What's cool is that army ants actually do something similar. They lock onto each other with their jaws to create an artificial ant hill. They can even make bridges across streams this way!

I like how they reprinted it as an insect. Boy, I wish that they made insects tribal. It would make sense flavor wise.

The heck with trample, give me whispersilk cloak instead. Not only does that allow me to get the maximum number of insects each turn but it also prevents this thing from being doombladed away before it can even start to do its thing.

Outclassed in almost all situations by Liege of the Tangle. Was great while it lasted.

It would be more flavorful for it to drop insects when being dealt damage to a creature, and i think it would work fine too: There would be little reason to chump-block it, but if you block it dead, it falls apart into ants (hit it harder and more ants go flying). Like those symbiotic guys, but less solid, so that little blockers take apart some ants too.

"Outclassed in almost all situations by Liege of the Tangle" ....

Anyone who's ever played a token deck knows that your biggest enemy is mass removal, things like Wrath of God, Sunscour and Damnation are perfect examples of cards that nuke the entire board of creatures...animating your lands permanently and then passing the turn is a terrible idea.

"Elemental Insect", interesting type combination... not quite sure what's elemental about this thing, though. What element is it? Is "insects" an element?

As much as I love this card, and I do love it, I have to admit that I can count the number of times it has made a difference on the fingers of one hand. If you get through with it in two-player, chances are you have already won, and in multiplayer it is a hate-magnet from hell.

To swing a game it needs help, like a Prowler's Helm or a Fireshrieker. But boy, the satisfaction when you pull it off. Especially if you happen to have an Ivy Lane Denizen and a Parallel Lives in play at the time!
