Not bad. Wish I'd be smaller and cheaper though. Like a 2/2 for RR with the same ability or something.

Agreed, very red flavored. I like it, though I'm sad it can't survive Magma Phoenix.

6 damage lightning bolts? That's pretty badass.

Only 4, I'm assuming. You sac it while you're paying for the spell, so the servant's ability ends before the Fling's effect resolves.

Very good in limited burn decks. Guy poped this down, then next turn hit me with a lava axe, suddenly I was down to 5 life and a top deck lightning bolt could have killed me.

does the ability stack for each servant on the field?
10/4/2004 If you have two of these on the battlefield, the damage is multiplied by 4.
So if the previous ruling for how doubling effects are handled is consistent then yes, controlling two of them would double the doubling effect (4x damage).

Technically Soul's Fire has the creature do the damage so this wouldn't double it. I like this card, its existence makes sense but I still prefer Quest For The Pure Flame.

as part of the cost for fling if you use this card itself will not be in play as fling is cast. therefore fling will deal the 4 damage of the creature's power that was not on the battlefield as it was cast. QED.

Half my draft decks seem to get 2 or 3 of these guys, and while he's a tad expensive, there's nothing quite like killing an opponent with one Lava Axe. :)

i think hes great. im trying to make a mono red tribal elemental deck just so i can abuse him. i like the fact that hes a one sided furnace of rath. that was much needed :)

This doesn't work with Soul's Fire. Soul's fire has the creature do it's damage, the spell itself does none.

Used this guy in combination with a grinning ignus and a ignite memories. Hilarious insta win. especailly since the guy i was facing had emrakul in his hand.

Yup, I did it. I did it during the finals, too. I reverberated a lava axe with a fire servant in play. It was sweet.

A must for any {R} Burn decks, in my opinion.
Especially if you run things like Flame Slash and Lightning Bolt; those cards are already pretty powerful for how cheap their mana cost is.

Ok my question is this. Does this ability stack with other Fire Servants?

I can't believe the effects of this creature are cumulative.
Have this guy out, then just play a Lava Axe, a couple Lightning Bolts, or if you want to be REALLY mean, pump out a ton of mana into a Blaze or a Ghitu Fire. If you are feeling suicidal, have the servant out and then play Inferno.

I've had 3 of these plus a Furnace of Rath down and bolted my opponent for a hilarious 48 damage. 5/5
To cast fling with this creature, you have to sac it as a cost. So by the time fling resolves (or even hits the stack), this creature is already off the battlefield and thus, his ability can't trigger. That's how I interpret the rules, anyways. If someone else thinks differently, let me know.

People, people, you aren't thinking big enough. Four of these on the field, plus a single lightning bolt = GG. So it should work like this 2x3 6x2 12x2 24x2 =48 damage.
You play the bolt, and it gets copied four times by Pyromancer Ascension. You play four reverberates, each one is copied four times, all targetting a lightning bolt, that's 20 reverberates. That's 25 lightning bolts.
With this extremely long and horribly complicated combination, you can deal 4,915,200 (FOUR MILLION NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED) damage for nine mana.
Think about that.

you're right about what happens, but it doesn't ever actually "trigger". there are four (tell me if i missed one) types of abillities:
Activated Abilities- anything with a cost (if it has a ":"), including mana-abilities. cost includes things like {T} or {0}
Triggered Abilities- "if", "when", "whenever" etc.
Replacement Effects- "instead"
Static Abilities- "indestructible", "flying", "first strike", "double strike", "morbid" (sometimes, and it would be the effect following "morbid" rather than the word morbid itself) etc.
Things like "this creature has P/T equal to" and "this creature cannot be blocked" are NOT abilities, they are defining characteristics of the card.
The only thing that "triggers" is the triggered ability. replacement effects just sort of...happen. triggering implies something hits the stack

Fire Servant is wicked in Limited. Use with Lava Axe and Reverberate and of course more Fire Servants..
