i'm not exactly sure who would be rating this above .5--it's overcosted, has no abilities, and doesn't even have any very relevant creature types. limited fodder, i know.

Pretty garbage card

It's better than Headless Horseman and has some good artwork. I am guessing as a filler creature it is not horrible.

Yeah, it's pretty uninspiring. But there're worse cards in set than him. And 3 power creature for 3cc was always fine in limited. So it is not junk.

I'm glad to see this. I didn't think I had enough Warpath Ghoul warprints, this is just what I needed.

really useless in this block. Proves that R&D lacks of good ideas.

I dunno what everyone's upset about. It's a man driven mad by the vastness of Phyrexia. If he catches you, he'll die to most burn, pale in comparison to most black creatures, and needlessly use up a slot in your opponent's deck. If you're very lucky, he'll do it in that order.

Okay, jokes aside, this is a pretty lousy card. Don't go anywhere near no ruttin' Moriok Reavers.

Just exchange it with Nirkana Cutthroat in your Deadspead Deck...

YES. I LOVE 3CMC 3/2 VANILLA BLACK CREATURES.
I WILL make a deck with all of these creatures. And it WILL be the best deck ever. EVER.

Come on wizards, if you cant be creative, just print less cards. I dont mind cards that are "bad", I am even willing to appreciate boring cards, but if you have to put black vanilla 3/2 to core sets, no one is gonna miss them in blocks.

Dear Wizards: Please stop making boring vanilla dorks and then starving the block of all the tools needed to make an interesting deck just because they're in the Core Set. Boring vanilla dorks BELONG in the core set. I realize you guys think that Limited is the Shiz Knight, but this card is worth basically nothing to most of the players who have ever opened one; you're basically just wasting trees. Print cards that every player will be glad to own for the rest of their life, or else just make people play on MODO if they want their limited fix. Cards like this are just an embarassment.

(Ironically, since I do appreciate the art and flavor text and the combo with Muraganda Petroglyphs, and am not so spoiled to think a 3-power creature for 2B is weak, I'm actually rating this card higher than the majority, despite having just denied that it ought to exist. I give it a 2 because 2/5 stars is the definition of boring but serviceable.)

Plane-shifted Gorilla Warrior!
Can't believe nobody noticed that...

Not every card can be amazing.
Vanilla critters are an excruciatingly important part of Magic.
They form a foundation for all of limited play.
They help new players to gauge the power level of creatures.
The lack of rules text allows for much more elaborate flavor text.

There is NOTHING wrong with this card.

I guess Geth's doing a fine job with these guys. They'll be dead in no time!

WotC must really love Barony Vampire, they put a functional reprint of her in the very next set.

My limited friend. I don't know why, but drafting four of these never feels like a bad idea. They're actually tempo that your opponent isn't prepared to deal with most of the time. They're the glue that hold limited decks together, and it's something your opponent isn't going to want to waste removal on. Simply horrid in constructed though, and all in all a really boring uncreative card.

I think the art depics him going for Geth after he read his own flavor text.
Too bad he's a 3/2

Going straight into my "Moriok" deck!

Finally! I own a 3cmc black creature with a lower rank then my scathe zombies.

Makes sense. You can do more with 2/2 zombies then with a 3/2 warrior (the Human part doesn't count)

@SpencerDub: Fantastic Firefly reference!

And yes, he kind of sucks. Yes, vanilla guys are needed for limited. Not every card can be Jace, the Mind Sculptor, and not even every common can be Rancor, Hymn to Tourach, or even Squadron Hawk. Oh well, move along.

The only thing this card will be remembered for is the unknown reason why Barony Vampire was included over this in the Black-Blue Intro Pack from Mirrodin Besieged.

Between the black oily tears and the hand and the weapon being fused, this art looks like it was meant to go on a Phyrexian card.
