Uggh...why was this reprinted. Its a 2/3 for four mana that needs extra cards to even use its benefits (not ragging on metalcraft though, because the cars are actually working in tandem)

I guess it was reprinted to reinforce the importance of Mirrodin's equipment, since that's one of the only ways you're going to be able to boost it in limited. Also, it's adorable. I want one.

Having included him in a sealed deck with only 2 pieces of equipment that'd get him to 4 power (Darksteel Axe and Livewire Lash), I was very happy with his performance. He needs the drawback because 4 power each turn is pretty insane - there aren't a great many creatures that can survive that sort of damage, at least without being good uncommons/rares or costing a heap of mana.
I'd always be wary about picking him in a draft though... again, he really needs 2+ pieces of equipment to feel safe with him (or a repeatable buff like Trigon of Rage).

Now that i think about it, its actually really cool that he was in future sight first, then they reprinted him in the future. Wonder if any other future sight cards will be in upcoming sets as well?

Futuresight art was better, still a solid, if pricy, goblin.

How serendipitous that this pre-print managed to come back as a Spikeshot Goblin shoutout!
Why has no one mentioned sword of vengeance? He really wants power buff and vigilance.

Performed better than I expected in a draft I did recently. As has been mentioned, both Darksteel Axe and Trigon of Rage get this guy up and running pretty well. And if your opponent manages some removal, Necrotic Oozereally likes seeing this guy in your yard.

This guy's pretty damn nice with wither or infect. My friend slapped grafted exoskeleton on this guy and was murdering my guys for four -1/-1 counters every turn. It was quite brutal.

My first two thoughts when seeing this guy were Obsidian Battle-Axe and Bonesplitter. Granted neither of those are standard right now, but not everyone plays standard full time.

3.5 because I like the flavor but have no idea what to do with it.
Pump power to 4, then hit a blocker for a one sided double pyroclasm

Make sure you give him Whispersilk Cloak or Canopy Cover ... anything really that grants either toughness or shroud, to ensure your opponent will not be able to simply remove him.

->let him heft that rock with ease
->give him some drug-based body paint
->send him on a quest for his master
->have that volcano he's climbing rub off on him
(but yeah, KyoDarkFire's suggestion kicks the crap out of my flavour)

No. This art is better then the Future Sight art.

@KyoDarkFire: Get an Obsidian Battle-Axe and you're even better to go!
Immolation: the slavemaster's tortures eventually make him stronger, but leave him forever scarred and wounded as a result
Flowstone Embrace: he can find the strength to lift the rock, but it leaves him exhausted and defenseless
Goblin King and Goblin Chieftain: charismatic (or maybe brutal) leaders bolster his morale and fill him with newfound strength
Glory of Warfare: nothing like an impending great battle to raise motivation!
Reckless Charge: in a fit of pure rage, he manages to hurl the rock over yonder
Maniacal Rage: vengeful fury overtakes him
