This is part of Fallen Empires's cycle of super weakened "boons" (after the Alpha ones). So weakened that they are almost unrecognizable as based on that original cycle. This one was ancestral recall.

I somehow remember this card being more common than a rare (though I know about the wacky rarity system back then).
In any case, 3 mana to draw 2 cards then put one back on top of library, it's fair though discard would have been better I think.

I like it. Same utility as Brainstorm, while also gaining artifact synergy.

While the other four cards in this cycle were printed with "Sacrifice ~ to do something", this one had the sacrifice in a sentence by itself. So, in Oracle-updating it, WotC could have chosen not to move the sacrifice to the cost, enabling some synergy with Voltaic Key, Clock of Omens, or Mind Over Matter.

Part of the Boon Cycle from Fallen Empires, which were callbacks to the powerful 1-mana instants from Alpha. The tradeoff for these being artifacts and therefore being accessible to all colors was a hit to their effect, and an additional mana cost. These cards were:
This one may be the best of the bunch, though Aeolipile saw lots of play too. It provides any deck with a costlier Brainstorm, which is itself a very powerful card. As previously mentioned, this is extremely powerful in conjunction with Miracle cards, and other topdeck-matters strategies, like Coiling Oracle and Riddle of Lightning.

So sucking a conch apparently draws 2 cards and combos with miracle.
