Yet another reason why for most Magic players, Fallen Empires is pretty much Forgotten Empires.

So..."Implements of Sacrifice" are used to sacrifice themselves? How paradoxical.

Not the most versatile card, but I use it for casting Channel in a mono-red burn deck. Awesome.

This is part of Fallen Empires's cycle of super weakened "boons" (after the Alpha ones). So weakened that they are almost unrecognizable as based on that original cycle. This one was dark ritual.
Is sending this card to the graveyard really a sacrifice?

She looks like she gave herself a hair cut with the bowl from Implements of Sacrifice.

Rather pointless... Dark Ritual this is not.

Situationally, this is better than Dark Ritual. It's hardly acceleration, but it's mana fixing. So it's more like a pale, pale, pale shadow of Black Lotus.

Astrolabe is a slightly improved version of this. It won't get you a 4 drop on turn 3, though.

Looks like Black Lotus is still the only card strictly better than this. Pentad Prism is usually better, though.

I like how the woman on this card looks just so... mediocre. She's not really that attractive, nor is she hideous. She looks just like some average, overweight 40-something-year-old woman. Not exactly the kind of individual I'd expect to see on a Magic card, lol.

She reminds me of my third grade teacher... knife and all.

I have one of these in my rare (but not powered) cube. It isn't an early pick, but it's useful for a few situations. This is especially nice in 3 color decks to fix you into that Wood Elves or Borderland Ranger you can't quite get to on a bad opening draw, or for mono/two color decks that have splash situations. In other instances, it can become just a simple thing that for one turn gets you an additional mana. Not the best card ever, but still decent.

"...NO! You were supposed to use them to MAKE a sacrifice, not sacrifice the implements themselves!"

I've never noticed that before! So that explains Balm of Restoration, Elven Lyre, Aeolipile, and Conch Horn!
It won't get you a 4 drop on turn 3, though.
