It's too expensive. When all is said and done, you're only getting a vanilla 3/3 and 2/2. It would be the centerpiece of an ally deck, but honestly, how many of those are you going to see?

Except in a really narrow focused elf deck with Nissa Revane and the other 2 Elf allies Joraga Bard and Tajuru Archer, I do not see this card getting much play... but in a Changeling deck look out!

Artificial Evolution, change "Wolf" to "Ally".

This guy is actually better than he looks. A 3/3 and a 2/2 vanilla, but each one you draw becomes better than the one you had before. He scales, which is great.

One spell = two creatures. Gives spot removal a speedbump.

Conspiracy.

I bet that elf is thinking "I haz a cute, leetle puppy." :P

I got 'The Adventurers' intro pack cuz of Kazuul Warlord, but this guy is pretty good too. My favorite part about allies is that their ability activates when they come into play, so this guy is a 3/3 who gets a 2/2 doggie friend.

It isn't bad by itself since it's a 3/3 and 2/2 body for five mana by default, and it has an interesting loop potential with cards like Artificial Evolution or Conspiracy.
But i'm not quite content yet about the Ally subtype nonetheless. They might become powerful when adding up their cip/etb effects, but none of them truly amazed me yet, i doubt such deck's power especially when regarding the lack ofone-drops for the early game.

blue green allies turntimber rangers Umara Raptor with Rite Of Replication kicked on one or the other usualy more fun on the rangers. can do some serious dmg if you are holding some counter magicl to stop the day of judgement thats probably goign to get thrown at you the turn after though lol

probably only good in zendikar block constructed, got to play this in sealed though and it was amazing

could be good in a warp world/allies deck, replaces wort the raid mother in warp world deck, well, I guess it doesnt quite replace wort, the conspiracy thing, but it does a fair imitation, and in a warpworld/ally deck, the number of cards for warp 2 go way up

Anybody doubting the power of allies need merely look at Mark Rosewater's Ally Week article. Allies were going to be SLIVERS. And do you doubt slivers? Didn't think so.

hey, question. if i use mirror entity or mirror weave to make all creatures i control into either all creature types or a copy of turn timber ranger, and then play a creature, does that cause the wolf that comes into play to count as an ally for turntimber ranger's effect? thus making an endless loop where you get crap load of wolves and huge elf ranger.

my thought is the ruling of turntimber is that when an ally comes into play, it comes into play and THEN after it has come into play the ally effect goes on the stack and it gets the counter/wolf. the mirror entity is a global effect until the end of turn so it would effect any new creatures coming in, and since you control both effects you can choose the order that they effect the wolf token.

basically it would go pay X for mirror entity(all creatures i control gain all types and get X/X) >> play a creature >> mirror entity's effect turns it into an ally >> turntimber is triggered because an ally creature just entered the battlefield >> make a wolf token >> wolf token becomes an ally >> turntimber gets bigger and another wolf comes in >> repeat.

I can't believe poeple think an ally-deck isn't good... shure, almost no one drop, bust seriously, a friend of mine often gets multiple 10/10+ creatures against my dark removal deck... if this is not power...

Between this and Harabaz Druid, you'd be an idiot not to play green in allies. This demands an answer, and if your opponent doesn't have one, he might as well scoop. It would be pretty easy to get this out with Harabaz Druid and Hada Freeblade turn 3. Bant allies seems to be the best, maybe with Naya allies or just G/W second.

Does the effect trigger on tokens? For example if I played this and then Cobra Trap would I get 4 more 2/2 wolves and +4/+4 on the Ranger?

Thanks

True_Mumin - "Artificial Evolution, change "Wolf" to "Ally"."

Nice infinity hole discovered there. Why stop there though? Throw Pandemonium out on the field as well for instant victory.

@generalleo :: No, Mirror Entity and Mirror Weave only affect creatures in play at the time the ability is used/spell is cast. Any new creature coming into play will be unaffected. You will only get an loop going if you have cast Conspiracy naming Ally or used Artificial Evolution to change Wolf to Ally on the Turntimber Ranger, or had some other static effect that changed the creature types of creatures you control.

With that Artificial Evolution trick, how would your turn end? Technically you can't stop it once it happens. Nice job True_Mumin, you just did the MTG equivalent of dividing by 0.

True_Mumin - "Artificial Evolution, change "Wolf" to "Ally"."
This could work if you could stop it at some point. Like Unsummon your ally after you have a billion ally tokens. Then a Halimar Excavator or any other ally. Easy overkill.

Artificial Evolution means an inescapable infinite loop? Am I the only one who noticed the "MAY" when I was actually reading the card???

Conspiracy means this guy instantly gets an arbitrarily high number of wolves and counters when he lands... and your other allies all go nuts.

So exactly how many wolves and counters do you get if you fetch four of these at once with Nissa Revane's ultimate?

With Genesis Wave, I always spit out an obscene amount of wolves. Like, around 9 or so.

I hope they print more Ally creatures. Maybe they can find a way to sneak one into a set every once in a while.

Infinite tactics are broken game features. There should be some hard wired limit to the number of triggers that can happen each turn.

I love this guy. He makes Tokens swarm the board. Whenever I drop an Ally he becomes bigger, and so does my army.

Here's a comparison between the Turntimber Ranger + Xenograft combo vs. the famous Deceiver Exarch + Splinter Twin combo (assuming you use a Birthing Pod deck)

+Disruption can either kill the Ranger or the Xenograft, but not a 2 for 1.
+You can pod the Ranger and cast the Xenograft and go infinite in the same turn.
+Without the combo, Turntimber Ranger is much more useful than Deceiver Exarch.
+If you have a Turntimber Ranger out already, you can go infinite by casting Xenograft and any other creature (for example: Birds of Paradise)
+If you pod the Ranger, you are less susceptible to mana disruption (Splinter Twin requires RR.)
+If you have a token generator, creature removal cannot prevent you from going infinite.

-Requires more mana than Exarch Twin.
-Does not win the same turn you go infinite, unless you either can give creatures haste or you can connect with an Inf/Inf Turntimber Ranger, that is already in play.
-Susceptible to Day of Judgement and Lightning Bolt, Burst Lightning ect.

It irks me that this guy's template doesn't line up with other Allies', like Oran-Rief Survivalist and Graypelt Hunter.

Shouldn't it be "...you may put a +1/+1 counter on THIS. If you do, put a 2/2 green Wolf..."
Or even "...you may put a +1/+1 counter on THIS and put a 2/2 green Wolf..."
?

If not, WHY not?

Even on his own he's decent (you're getting a total of five power for five mana; breaking it up into two creatures makes him easier to destroy with a big blocker, but also means that you don't lose everything you got from him to a single Murder.) And if you have any other allies at all this benefit can pile up fast.

Part of the problem most other allies have, sadly, is that they tend to not be good on their own, which can put you in a bad situation if you have trouble getting / keeping them out enough to get the full benefit from them. Even if your opponent zots this guy with removal the moment he hits the field, you've traded one-for-one and got a free wolf token in the process.

t1 forest, Birds of paradise
t2 land ,mana dork x2
t3 land, cast this and then target it while it's on the stack with Artificial Evolution naming allies over wolves. Infinite 2/2 allies.
t4 Win.
