Awesome example of green/blue hybrid under the current color pie.

It's so susceptible to removal and islandwalk is so unreliable that you might as well play an Elvish Visionary or Wistful Selkie instead.

I believe this card rocks... Hey she is better than Vedalken Heretic. oh... Murkfiend Liege, Favor Of The Overbeing will be great in play with this card, and even Shielding Plax.

Anyone who plays a merfolk tribal deck knows just how amazing this card is. Your opponent WILL have an island using cards such as Aquitect's Will or Tideshaper Mystic, and this will likely be a 3/3 or 4/4 on average with Merrow Reejerey or Merfolk Sovereign in play. Then, you draw a bunch of merfolk into your hand and play them all out in the same turn using effects from Stonybrook Banneret and Merrow Reejerey. Talk about merfolk aggro...

However seeing as how the usefulness of this card is limited outside of merfolk tribal decks, I rate it at 4/5.

Turn 2 Cloak and Dagger + Turn 3 Cold-Eyed Selkie with a Daze in hand is a great feeling.

@bowlofgumbo "island walk is unreliable"? I don't understand what you mean. Give them an island several cards can do this whats the problem?

This is viable in mono-Green; the islandwalk part is just a bonus. Probably one of my favorite Gigantiform targets.

after searching for and trying many auras and equipment, Favor of the Overbeing and Infiltrator's Magemark seem the most efficient way to ensure a healthy draw inside the Green or Blue color scheme. if anybody knows of another permanent way to do that in ANY color, i'd love to know about it. seriously. i think the main goal is to do it for 3 mana or less, though, if you've got 5 mana to spend on a Gigantiform, it's probably too late for the card advantage to make a big difference.

If I was a little younger, the picture on this card would give me nightmares.

In eternal formats, especially vintage, islandwalk is the best form of combat evasion. This is the cornerstone drawing engine in so many Fish decks (the ones with Gaddock, not Lord of Atlantis) as a t1 Noble Heirarch into t2 selkie gives you 2 cards by turn 3 while you just played some form of control in the form of another creature.
It still nets you at least a card a turn while your other threats go in for the beating.

To anyone comparing the art to "The Ring" or stuff like it - Peg Prowler and Jenny Greenteeth have been around far longer than any Asian horror knock-offs. Come now.

That said, a great and fun card. In a deck with Lorescale Coatl, she can be a 3-mana finisher. Everything she needs she can be given by the colors she's in. Need an island on your opponent's side of the board? You're playing blue. Want to draw more than one card per swing? You're playing green. Need to protect her from targeted removal? GreenBlue can give its creatures all sorts of shroud without blinking twice, not to mention counterspells. A fantastic support card, at the very least. I don't know whey she's rated below a 4.5.

I think this card has the best non-promo art of all cards ever printed.
This is just epic.

I'm thinking of using this in a caw-blade deck with some spreading seas and some jitti and sword of feast and famine should equal a good time

Infiltration Lens for a guaranteed draw turn 2, unless they feeling blowing removal on a 1/1.

@longshanks126

cheap removal spells are plentiful and wouldn't be wasted on this. reusable card drawing engines aren't something people wanna leave around.

when was the last time an opponent LET you keep Jace on the table?

I use this as a powerful draw engine in my casual islandwalk Merfolk deck. Its honestly my favorite deck for casual play.

Something non-mechanical about this card is charming to me...I'm little worried, guys.
That said, this thing is pretty good in "Merfolk and here, have an island" type decks. Or if you Might of Oaks after a casual "no blocks".

Islandwalk: It might as well read "unblockable" in Legacy.

What a cutie! I think a whiplash trap would serve to get her out of that marsh, then a quick earthbind and voíla!....... heheheh.

One of the flagship cards for GreenBlue, the colors of card draw and sneaky creatures. Give her a sword of your choice and you're good to go.
The selkies were a great addition to the merfolk stable, in my opinion. Clever design, managing to be both cute and creepy, as well as introducing new color to merfolk.

@kronos539: Best way is Aquitect's Will by a mile. {U} cost, cantrips, makes your Selkie unblockable, can be cast BEFORE the Selkie if you so desire (possibly at the cost of the cantrip though). Only real downside is that it can't be adapted to be useful for non-islandwalkers. (Then you can spend the rest of your mana budget on pump if you so desire)

Play this in Rafiq of the Many EDH and draw a ton of cards.

"It's so susceptible to removal and islandwalk is so unreliable that you might as well play an Elvish Visionary or Wistful Selkie instead." -bowlofgumbo

Also, if you put her in a red deck... YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CAST HER. ZOMG. In other news, Merrow Reejerey is a bad card. He just doesn't do much in my Delver deck.

Of course, people that are not bowlofgumbo can cast her and she hits the table as a 3/3 and almost probably draws 4 cards on the next turn.
