The name is misspelled. It should have been Empyreal Plate.

Would've fit into Saviors of Kamigawa better.

Works wonders in my cantrip deck. That is serious power for the cost.

Doesn't work so well in other places...

This one just got a bit more interesting with Puresteel Paladin, since it turns each of your equipments into a cantrip and even cuts about half their cost since you don't have to pay mana for equipping if you have Metalcraft.

Compare to other equipments in the block such as Vulshok Morningstar. I imagine this is a reasonable card in limited.

This could be stupid on Cold-eyed Selkie.

I love how this is a rare, but Loxodon Warhammer and Lightning Greaves are uncommon. Just goes to show how unsure R&D was about how equipment was going to work. Still, this is a pretty nice boost for its cost, just so long as it's in the right sort of deck. It doesn't fit aggro too well, but defensively..

The secret to this card is it's best with some moderate draw cards and cards that return stuff from your graveyard to your hand. It's not worth milling your deck trying to steroid one creature but if you can buff a creature while getting stuff from your graveyard its really handy.

And besides, who doesn't like having a reason to have more cards in their hand :P.

If you got a control deck that has some creatures, and is good at maintaining card advantage, this equipment can be a powerhouse.
