My Vorthos is all over this. I love the flavor text, and the artwork, while depicting something relatively simple, is lush with detail.

I would disagree. I would much rather have a strong control card like this than a 1/2 flyer (not saying SC is bad of course).

Makes a surprisingly effective EDH general. Your opponents will hate you though.

What happens if i use a card with CMC of 2 (for example) to bring a card with more than 4 of CMC from the hand to the battlefield? The first card can be played, but the second one would enter? I think it wont but i dont know for sure

actually the wording with Gaddock Teeg says "played". So yes, this stuffs most control decks and prevents the more expensive spells from being played by any means.

5/5 This is an excellent card for control decks if you happen to be running G also.

@fabujs: As long as the 2 CMC spell doesn't say "cast" that your 4 CMC spell for free, then you can get around Gaddock Teeg. Gaddock Teeg prevents casting of non-creature spells of 4 CMC or greater, even if you try to pay an alternative cost. In other words, this Gaddock Teeg would shut down Force of Will, since its CMC is 5.
@WhiteyMcFly: The Oracle text takes precedence. It says "cast" now.

Stop's green's big creatures? Did I miss something?
I thought it said "none creatures with..." bla bla bla...
Any way... Hellish control power. I recently learned that green white is quite as good at control as blue white. This guy is just more evidence to the fact.
Best if structured for... I don't know... He's so flexible that I can't think of just one plan. I guess that he could be used for a green style control. You play him then, in mid game, you start playing your big creatures and, because they can't play anything expensive, you opponent can't do a thing about it.

I think most people seem to be misunderstanding what a control deck is supposed to do. Gaddock Teeg screams to me "I stop Wrath of God!". Who wants to stop Wrath of God? Not control.
Aggro.
Aggro doesn't want Wraths, or Force of Wills, or Dragonstorms, or Cryptic Commands to be played. Aggro wants to keep its horde of cheap creatures alive, and that seems like what this card is for. And what it has been used for in the past, particularly during Lorwyn Standard when Kithkin was one of the most powerful archetypes. Kithkin is not a control deck, folks.

@guest1334148255: You couldn't use medallions to get around his restriction, neither can you use, say Thorn of Amethyst to mess further with your opponents. This is because those effects doesn't change the CMC, they're modifying it - an effect that comes into play in addition to the CMC. When you cast a spell, the cost is calculated by first taking the CMC, then adding any present modifiers. Thing is, I got both Gaddock and Thorn of Amethyst on the same day in two different Lorwyn packs, and I immediately thought of that combo, but wanted to look it up thoroughly in the rules first...was a bit dissapointed when I found out what I just explained... ;)

In EDH, this is the kind of general that is so effective and game changing, that he will draw a lot of fire and attacks to you, you have been warned.
I like how he manages to have a wordy enough ability and still fits in the awesome flavortext.

I can't really think of a card that really makes control cringe like this one. Mr. Teeg here will be target Numero Uno if he slips by un-countered. And that's good. There are very few 2 drops that can hit the table shouting answer me now like this guy. If they do answer him, big whoop, they wasted ammo on your 2 drop. If they don't, your horde of Zoo critters is going to show them the door.

A sad, sad casualty of the Green Sun's Zenith ban in Modern. As a 2cmc 2/2 in a format with Goyf, he was only playable with the tutor. Now, may he rest in peace.
The Teeg's legitimacy as an EDH general is three pronged:
(1) He's multicolored. (2) He's cheap, so you can reliably get him in play quickly, and reasonably continue to replay him when he becomes the target of hate. (3) Since EDH is a format that actually encourages higher-cost spells in general, his abilities are more effective than in a standard game-play setting.

I had this guy out and my friend 'played' a living weapon cmc 5 with Stoneforge Mystic and said he could do it because 'played' means cast and he wasn't casting it. Is it true?
Your friend is correct. Putting something into play is not the same as playing it. The oracle text for this card uses the term "cast" which is much less confusing.

He was my favourite EDH general for quite awhile. But first turn Savannah into Sol Ring into Mana Vault with Mana Crypt dropping Selesnya Signet and Talisman of Unity followed by Winter Orb and then Gaddock Teeg was apparently not a nice way to make friends.
Yuck at the ability, even though he's definitely the most handsome kithkin in the game.

@Psychrates: Actually I don't think Augustin could stop Gaddock Teeg from disabling your spells. He reduces the casting cost, alright, but if I'm not mistaken that doesn't change the CMC.
