Since you're not going to make great use of this guy in combat anyways, i'd have rather liked it with higher toughness instead in order to be able to stand burn spells or similar dangers better.

This + Lich is a winning combo. Not too reliable, though. Otherwise I could see this used in a control deck that isn't very good at mitigating damage early on and then capitalize on that later. Still, it's vulnerable to removal.

Great card. Would have been nice if the art was more in line with the original Mirror Universe, especially since that was the only one of the Magus artifacts to prominently display a person (two of the same person, actully) in the artwork.
Poor p/t and no ability such as shroud or haste makes this card kind of useless at turn 6. I think Corrupt or other cards can do better job. Interesting combos can be used with this guy like pay infinite life with Platinum Angel or giving Abyssal Persecutor to opponent. 3.5/5 for interesting ability . .

You could also Flash it or otherwise cheat it in at the end of their turn in place of flash. But that still leaves it open to response and a phase change before it's set to blow.

Probably the 'worst' Magus- and yet the one whose theme has been repeated more times than any other Magus' in Magic. Lich's Mirror, Soul Conduit, and quite a few other cards are intended to create the ultimate turn-the-tables moment.

The reason why this isn't better than Mirror Universe is because Mirror Universe could be played in any colored deck. This is a black spell, which is only playable in Black-colored EDH.
Not only that, but a creature is much easier to kill than an Artifact.
The point of the Magus' was to go back to Magics originally beastly non-creature permanents and put them in a creature. They were made to be worst than the card they were copying. Do not ever consider rating this higher than their non-Magus counterparts.
