Yes, he's a pain to keep up, but his ability + attacking for 9 has won me multiple games. Besides, if it's late-game enough to be playing Kuro, you should be able to handle a 4 mana upkeep.

The beginning of your step goes in this order:

sheer power. drop this, then use its integrated ability to nuke your opponents' creatures and attack for the win

Beasty demon with a killer ability and powerful power and toughness, but it's missing one thing: Trample. I hate getting my tough creatures stopped by little guys. Of course, pay enough life and you can just basically burn them... Still, I would prefer trample.

Nice to wipe the board for free with Children of Korlis.

I'm fond of the Deathgreeter machine-gun. With one out, all */1 creatures are gone. With two, all */2 creatures are gone and you gain a net profit on 1-toughness guys. Repeat for Deathgreeters 3 and 4. It's quite fun, especially since once you start gaining life off of weenies you can be bothered to overspend for bigger threats. Plus you've got a gigantic fatty to swing with, so as soon as the board's clear you can take huge chunks out of your opponents' life.

Kuro is like the definition of suicidal black. I think Kamigawas balck was just a bit to suicidal. See almost any black card with regenerate and Bushido from the set.

This guy is just plain ugly. Call me conservative but I prefer a good old Lord of the Pit.

Eon Hub that bish and start paying life out the wazoo to slay some b*tches.

Would definitely need some life gain, then again, run near death experience for the most confused win condition ever.

@Ameisenmeister:
With the Children, you could gain a huge chunk of life as well.
Start with 20 life,
Use 19 of it to throw -1/-1 counters everywhere,
Sac a Child for 19 life,
Use for 19 more counters,
Sac a Child for 38 life,
Then 57, and 76 life.

True, it's not likely you'd have 20 life by the time you have this out, but multiplying your life by 4 is always helpful.

I want this ability on a 1/1 body. But I guess Jitte already did it...

This is not a bad guy to bring back from the graveyard when your Iname as One dies, which means he could be useful in a Reanimator deck using Buried Alive.

Huge, but probably more trouble than he's worth in most decks. Only really useful in Commander, where his high casting cost + upkeep + cost of his abilties won't seem so overwhelming.

Actually a very useful Commander in decks optimized for him. Someone in my playgroup runs him with a lot of lifelink effects, which gives him more than enough life to machine-gun every threat on the table at instant speed. The huge upkeep cost is a pity though; nowadays they'd just make him Mythic Rare without the drawback.
He and Griselbrand are best buddies.

At least this looks more awesome than Kagemaro xP

This is actually not that bad for Demon art, when you factor that you *DO* want it to look distinctly non-Western. This is fairly wierd in a fairly good way. But, still, I've seen better anime/manga demons that could be very demonic, very Japanese, and very awesome. Sorta thinking Digimon-crossed-with-Deathnote here? :P

So everyone knowns this card does not combo with Children of Korlis because you pay life not take damage, which is different.

Epic artwork, but he's a bit cumbersome for my liking.
