Vhati's ability is amazing, it can easily turn the combat phase in your favor, or make lage creature susceptible to burn spells. Although a 3/3 body isn't all that secure, but then again he is black and had resistence to certain removal.

Definitely a great card, combined with Night of Souls' Betrayal his ability becomes even more amazing. 4.5/5.

Poor Vhati, getting pitched off the ship by Greven in Diabolical Edict. He is actually a better legend than Greven.

Doran's buddy. Seems like they'd get along pretty good.

Play him in B/G/U, With Pemmin's Aura. All your opponents creatures are either 1/x, or x/1...That's a whole lotta win right there...

Instill Energy. "Oh, you're attacking me with your Thorn Elemental? I block it with my Grizzly Bears, tap Vhati, untap him and tap him again to make it a 1/1."

Played with Pemmins Aura and Prodigal Sorcerors he's a real creature killer.

Play him along with some first strike creature, or anything that reduces the toughness or damages by one.

I am trying to figure out what's Green about him. I think it's his ability to pump up the power of Kobolds.

I'm surprised I can't see any comments about the potential use of thiscard in relation to counters on cards. For example, something like Spike Tiller, controller designates a target for the ability, tap, 1 toughness, counter removed BOOOM!

this with something like Lose Hope would be a kick in the nads to a beefed monster

Don't underestimate this guy as an EDH general. Sure, he won't generate a ton of damage on his own, but he gives you excellent board control in your ability to mitigate incoming fatties or set enemy generals up for death-by-chump-block.

Dies to Diabolic Edict? Anything dies to Diabolic Edict...unless the player has hexproof, or is smart enough to have more than one creature on the field.

@snackynorph look at the art in Diabolic Edict. All will be revealed...

Because there is little more humiliating than dying to a Hornet Sting.

Hey guys, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't this card get a pretty sweet upgrade under the new rules? Declare as blocker. Tap: attacker's toughness to 1. Tapped blockers deal damage nowadays.

Not gonna breal any formats, but still interesting...

A few cards that turn him from "Make them weaker" to "Make them dead".

Curse of Death's Hold is effective if you're playing against one player. For more than one, Night of Souls' Betrayal does the job just as well. If you're willing to colour-hate white, Dread of Night is a cheap alternative. Either variation of Crovax (Ascendant Hero/Evincar) can be dirty as well. Screams from Within can really make your opponent scurry for removal.

Overall, Vhati is a good budget legendary that has an effective ability and a cool story.
