One of many favorite cards. I have used this card many times to slowly kill off my opponents. Some how I almost always manage to get a second one out too. Awesome Card!

I also use 3 of these. Its allways playable and you can wait for your oponent to have less than 3 cards in hand to play more than one at a time!

Put one of these out alongside a Black Vise. They're going to be taking damage no matter how many cards are in their hand.

The Revised Edition of this and Black Vise's wording gave me alot of greif...
"If Opponent has fewer than three cars in hand during his or her upkeep,
the rack does 1 damage to opponent for each card fewer than three"
Because of this wording the twit ASSUMED and claimed judges said it means/ment it targets ALL opponents... Some guy who's supposendly been playing since when Black Lotus was a 10 cent card... Who thinks he knows it all...
This and black vise are a fun combo! I like using them with Underworld Dreams, Spiteful Visions & Teferies Puzzle Box XD Fun!! Not so much a winning deck but ment to be annoying and fun lol XD
.... Just not so great as a group game deck :s lol

Ya this card is still confusing, I bought the Liliana Planeswalker deck and there is The Rack in there, and the wording is weird. It makes sense, but for anyone in jr. high, it's gotta be confusing. haha I'm a 5th year College student and it's still confusing! 5/5 for horrible wording

running this with Black vise is kind of weak cause... well, just try it... it's not as good as it sounds... been there, done that... took a pic with my arms in the air going wooo in my chair... then I got over it cause it's not all it's cracked up to be... run this in a BLACK-DISCARD DECK... toss in Megrim or Liliana's caress ... underworld dreams... you get the idea, I hope lol

Extremely effective in a number of ways. Great card, and a lot of fun to watch people bite their lips while they try to play cards but not have damage dealt to them either.

I really like The Rack. Flavorful, and a bargain for what it does. Has synergy with discard, but acts well on its own to put a timer on your opponent in the late game.
Ok, a few things: 1) The wording isn't that confusing. 2) This and Black Vise should not be in the same deck. If you are running a discard deck that allows your opponent to have more than 4 cards in hand after a couple of turns, your discard deck sucks.
I have run a playset in my MB discard deck since I built it, and it is THE primary win-con. Hypnotic Specter, Hymn to Tourach(an auto-playset in discard, btw), Mind Twist, Ravenous Rats, Thoughtseize (or whatever your preferred 1CMC discard spell is) should have opponents top-decking so fast, it's not even fun to play against this deck. I run 4 of course, and actually ran 3 Rackling for a while, until I found some better answers, namely Nyxathid.
5/5 all day, every day. One of my all time favorite cards.

A discard deck without this card, or another one with similar effect, makes no sense. Recently, in RTR Shrieking Affliction was printed and now one can run an "8Rack" deck.
This is a staple in discard and Pox decks being very effective in both archetypes because it punishes the opponent when he/she has no cards in hand. Liliana's Caress, in another way, rewards your opponent when he/she has no cards in hands.
