This is blue/white at its best; its restrictive, controlling, and absolute. Augustin practically embodies all that there is about the Azorius; he manipulates, commands, and rules the law to the piont of perfection where nothing is ever acted upon or accomplished.

i absolutely think this card is great if you are playing an esper deck, i mean, you don't have to play full artifacts, but combine this with 4 sculptors, you got -5 off of your artifact for playing, that means inkwell will be able to be brought out quickly, any sphinxes becomes easy to play, any artifacts you have in your deck is practically free, so there you go, with the extra bonus of your opponent having to pay one extra...

Retarded good in his colors. UW decks are hard enough to deal with without having more mana speed.
Awesome and flavorful card. Every deck with these two colors should run him.

He's nice, but I don't know about his manna cost. If the Idea is to inconvenience your opponent, that wouldn't it be better to get him out on practically on the first turn.
I don't know I just think he would be better if he had less power and toughness. I's not like he's going to go out and dominate the playing field using brute force anyway.
I just think he might be better if he were a 0/1 that cost just one white and one blue, although, admittedly, it is cool having a blind old man in a hover chair that could beat the snot out of a grizzly bear.
My only complaint: manna cost interferes with his ability to show up early and make your opponent whine the whole game though. also, he doesn't end games quite as effectively as I have seen some cards do, its not like when they see this guy your opponent will scream and hide.
He's also a bit difficult to supper combo with and structure a deck around. Ah, well.
So:
base rating: ***
highish manna cost -* Difficult to center a deck around: -*/2 Irksome ability: +***

@whitedeckftw: Yes, it would reduce the X cost of Overrule.
Grand Douche Augusdouche IV is my official name for him, and with good reason. This is just sick, in a good and bad way.

I love him. He just makes any control deck shine. He usually dies quickly unless you give him shroud, but usually lasts long enough to get your sphinx/angel out and win.
Awesome flavor, awesome abilities, and awesome art. 5/5

It would be hard to pull off, but this, Mirror Gallery and Rite of Replication and/or Followed Footsteps would be hilarious.

I wish I had Augustin. If you can play him early enough, you turn your cancels into counterspells, and your mana leaks become overpowered for 1 mana.
He also puts the pressure on your oppoment, since 1 mana can make a difference, unless they're playing a mana acceleration green deck. But still, he will buy you time to stall.
Add Mirror Gallery... and then watch as your oppoment cut themselves over not being able to do much.

EDH general. Tagged with Followed Footsteps with a Mirror Gallery in play. After a couple of turns, it pretty much locks the game down completely. Give him shroud and indestructibility, both which are common abilities in blue and white respectively, and your opponents will be saying, "GG, round 2?"
I've always enjoyed him with Ghostly Prison and Propaganda both in play in EDH. That won't *** people off or anything. Though I may need to add Grand Abolisher myself...
I can do lots of cool stuff! Wargate for 2 paying just WUG, to get out Snapcaster.

One of my buddies told me that at a tournement he got ruled that this guy doesn'e make a blue and white spell cost 2 less but that you pick a color and the spell only costs one less. Which is pretty much the dumbest thing I've ever heard

This guy should be reprinted in Return to Ravnica. I can't think of a more fitting Azorious legend than this one.

Incredibly powerful card in U/W decks. I rated 4 stars. I would have rated him 5 if his power/toughness was 1/4 instead.... He dies to Searing Spear, Lightning Bolt and others... Not really going to be used for offence anyhow... He is an Arbiter....
