@mrredhatter: Light of Sanction can prevent your creatures from taking combat damage dealt by your own creatures and redirected with Harm's Way, while Mark of Asylum cannot.
So, that's something, as insignificant as it may be.

Things like Earthquake become twice as powerful with this card. They no longer hurt your own creatures. Every blanket damage spell is now one-sided. I could see running it in a deck with tons of Pyroclasms, Tremors, Volcanic Fallouts, and Earthquakes.

A narrow and not too powerful effect that won't do anything by itself. I'd have prefered this as a creature or if it would have been cheaper. Would surely make an interesting one-drop. It's one of those cards that might get interesting with the print of a certain card in a future set though. But still, for three mana i would have prefered it to protect me as well.
And this also works with masochistic creatures of course like Psionic Sliver. Wave of Reckoning might be a nice alternative to the red burn spells if you don't want to run red (which i generally wouldn't quite call a good idea).
I just love the card's flavor. It's undeniably white in flavor and function, but the cards it combos with are mostly red. Very appropriate for a RW guild.

There's a few neat applications (think Boros for almost every one of them with cards like Skirk Fire Marshal, Inferno, and Bloodfire Colossus) but those applications are way too narrow for this to be useful in most instances. 2.5/5

What's that you say? My ACT is rather BLASPHEMOUS?
My creatures disagree for some reason.

Oh, wait, chain reaction, but still...

Right now there are already plenty of red and various black cards that combine with this card though:
Pyroclasm/Volcanic Fallout, Flamebreak, Slagstorm, Chain Reaction, Kindle the Carnage, Martyr of Ashes, this card's expansion buddy Hammerfist Giant, Ryusei, the Falling Star
If you want more enchantments, try Pyrohemia or the black original classic, Pestilence.
