lovely for fending off the threads while milling or having the opponents draw many cards with say Forced Fruition.

I happen to find this card extraordinarily fun to play with. Cards like Telling Time will enable you to get new cards even without your opponent's approval. Tutors make establishing a lock much easier and allow you to get the right attrition-based game ender for the situation. Quiet Disrepair just completes this card.

Best cards I've found for this are Augury Adept, since it gets you the card with no say from your opponent and gains you life to counter when you pay for it, and Bloodcief Ascension, which is just ugly synergy with this. Only problem with the ascension is that it would be hard to get running in blue-black. Oh, wait: Dauthi Horror, Dauthi Mindripper, Dauthi Slayer....Hypnotic Specter.... nevermind, lols.

Useful if you have a consistent way to gain life. An old friend used to establish lock with zur's weirding with two fountain of youth or ivory tower. I'm pretty sure there are some better ways of maintaining a 2 life-gain every turn nowadays.

This card was awesome back in Ice Age days. Players went ga-ga over it. Personally, I think it's gotten better with age.

I made a pretty decent multiplayer lock by playing Cenn Triplets, thereby prompting my opponents to empty their hands, then I wiped the board and played this.

Extremely annoying to play against. Extremely stupid to play when your board position is bad, and your hand isn't prepared to deal with it. Tread lightly, or preferably, don't play this card.

This is such a griefer card, but if you are somewhat experienced you know when to scoop. Turns Magic into simple chess... actually more like Tic-Tac-Toe. That can go on for another five minutes if your opponent isn't aware he or she has already lost the moment you play this.

I really think I should start compiling a list of cards that can be used to gauge a player's skill/experience based on their reaction to it. This is certainly one of them. Basically, the game is over once this resolves. There are very few ways to effectively work around it if your opponent is playing a deck designed to abuse it.

Of course, Zur the Enchanter can't fetch Zur's Weirding because it has a CMC of 4 instead of 3.

I'm decent with rulings in magic but if you were to use words of worship with this then you wouldn't draw cards, just gain life while you're forcing them to slowly mill. I think words of worship would replace the draw before it even happened therefore overriding the weirding effect

Great in multiplayer... if you're the sort of person who likes politics. I like playing it, announcing I plan to never pay the life, and then watching other players agonize over whether to thoughtseize-fateseal each other.

A few days ago I met an EDH deck that ran this.
The funny thing was that I started the game with Bloodchief Ascension in my hand and put it out turn 1.
Needless to say, out of the 4 people playing, NO ONE got to draw a card (obviously I wasnt allowed to draw either, as revenge). Luckily I was running a reanimation/mill deck with a clone imprinted on a Mimic Vat and a Mnemonic Wall in play... so yeah.. I didnt mind.

This is not an instant win card. A deck running this has to still contend with the cards the opponent has already played while also doing things to ensure that the lock is beneficial. "Players can't draw cards" doesn't help you if goblins are beating you down.
A golden rule for Magic: Any card that seems to have a mutual effect in principle almost never does in practice. If a player is running this in their deck, they almost certainly have a way to abuse it. Expect grueling permission strategies to initiate. I can't think of a reliable way out of this other than, say, an Elvish Lyrist that's already out.

This card needs the following flavortext: "This is really weird. --Zur"

And this isn't overpowered in a blue and white lifegain and control deck, why?
The rulings text already says it, but you can use dredge to make this completely uneven. "Putting stuff in my grave? Sure, but what about returning that schweet Life from the Loam to my hand at the same time? Or that Stinkweed Imp to handily trade with whatever creature Weirding somehow didn't turn into The Mimeoplasm munchies?" Hm, BUG, you're such a filthy color combination.

I'm still in disbelief. Every time I see this, I have to look it over at least two or three times. In some sort of blue tempo strategy, it opponents simply can't draw cards, while they're down on life so they won't risk not letting you draw cards.
