was destroying all swamps really required at the cost of seven mana? i mean, Nightstalker isn't quite the most useful tribal type anyways... whoever created the card, he or she seemingly enjoyed more creating some flavour rather than considering the usefulness^^

I could see this working okay if Nightstalker was a more prevalent type, and you had an Elsewhere Flask on the field so you could pay then turn all of your swamps into forests or something, but otherwise it's kinda... not good. Changelings could maybe use this card too, but still.

I agree that the destroy all you swamps is a bit silly, but playing Nightstalkers in tribal is too fun to worry about the particulars.

My opinion of this card is inversely proportional to how much of the text I had read.

Show me changelings!
Also, it becomes less painful with Terra Eternal in play.

or you could just use, you know, nonbasic lands.

Huh?!
Wait, so I spend an absurd amount of mana AND sacrifice all my Swamps to bring back all of some obscure creature type?!
If you could at least have chosen a creature type it wouldn't have been totally laughable (though it would still be grossly overcosted), and truthfully if it brought back all your creatures it would probably be acceptable given the insane cost of playing this card.
Perhaps one of the most expensive nearly-useless cards in Magic history.
Strangely this is the only card with a "destroy all swamps" effect, but it only hits YOUR swamps. With Acid Rain, Tsunami, Boil, flashfires, stench of evil, etc., they still haven't printed a wrath for swamps yet. Maybe someday.

There are 12 nightstalker creatures, and none of them are particularly good. Awful and outdated card. =/

Laugh. Complain. Critique this card to your hearts content. My Nightstalker deck will tear your s h i t apart. My buddy Spririt of the Night wholeheartedly agrees with me. Enjoy your infinite combos, and turn 2 wins. I'll happily be summoning creatures by turn 20.

Combo with Fen Stalker! You can't have any untapped lands if you have zero lands!

They mixed this card up with a crappy horror movie title.
Either that, or there's a little bit of clairvoyance in work here... I can tell you, in 5 years, the Nightstalkers will return... and this will be a Mythic Rare XD

@Kryptnyt Yeah, but has Karma which can be a game winner all by itself. With any of the other color-Armageddons you still have to get past their field and seal the deal.
Then there is the artifact option of Kormus Bell + Tremor or any other field wiper.

I love the 'mischievous gnomes act theatre for undead puppetmaster' art, and at junk-rare price it's worth it for that alone.

Should the new and kick @$$ card Zombie Apocalypse remind me of this card for some strange reason??
... still doesn't justify the heavy cost of destroying your own swamps though. Might as well play Zombie Apocalypse with Ashes of the Fallen.

Honestly, I love it for being so bizarre and specific.
Besides - it's a sick combo with Nightstalker Engine! Man, a total of 12 mana for a vanilla 0/3 is pretty over the top, especially when you have no lands.
I thought of a B/G Deck: Uses stuff like Mulch, Grisly Salvage, Life from the Loam, Putrid Imp and Buried Alive to get your creatures in the gy (setup for Spirit of the Night combo too!). Survival of Fittest would be great, but unfortunately banned in Legacy. For winning I was thinking of running Rain of Filth + Return of the Nightstalkers to power it out. It's gonna suck don't get me wrong, but hilarious to pull off.

Guys, it says destroy, not sacrifice. Just play Terra Eternal and a bunch of nightstalkers/changelings for a one-sided mass rez.

You only need two swamps to cast it, and to follow what's been said, just run nonbasics :)

If only there was a version of this with a lower mana cost, a much more relevant creature type, and no swamp destruction, oh wait zombie apocalypse.

Not even that good with the Nightstalkers in the set. You cast it and your Nightstalker Engine - the one rare Nightstalker - comes in at 0 power. Aaaaargh!
Oh, and there were no nonbasic lands in Portal: Second Age, so you HAD to cast this with swamps.

1. Play Buried Alive, discarding Feral Shadow, Breathstealer and Urborg Panther.
2. Play Return of the Nightstalkers.
3. Activate Urborg Panther's ability.
4. ???
5. Profit!
