This card is great and all, but I like it mostly for the fact that Double Strike and Trample are both on a creature naturally.

It's kind of stupid how this card is a mythic rare, yet Bearer of the Heavens isn't. That really shows Wizards' corruption in action.

@OlvynChuru: Yes and no. Bearer deserves mythic status, but that doesn't make Wizards corrupt in any way. Rarity isn't a power indicator; it's a frequency limiter.

If there was ever a creature that screamed for some Claws of Valakut, this is it.
I'm sorry what's that about redundancy? I couldn't hear you over my Human Shaman that hits like a Dragon Tyrant...

I really want this card to be good. If it were pushed even slightly more I'd be pretty amazed that the.printed it. It is just so high variance. Damn you, Doom Blade and ilk.

This card is really awesome and all...but a problem I have with him is that it's really hard to get him to connect without outside help.

What the name of Kruphix are you going on about? Wizard's Corruption? It's a card game, a CARD GAME.
I think some has forgotten the horror that was zendikar with Mythic Utility cards creating one of the most expensive standards ever.

Double strike + Trample? Quick question: if the blocker dies from the first strike damage, the shaman does his next point of normal combat damage to defending player, right?

@OlvynChuru Why on Earth should bearer be mythic? It's absolutely unplayable.
Anyway, 4.5/5 I can't wait to open one. I love Red, I'm going to find ways to abuse this fella.
Red card draw; yes please. :)

Thunderous Might seems decent with this card in mono-red devotion.

Casual players who get this as their mythic will be confused and a bit disappointed. Should have been Bearer of the Heavens!

This is mythic rare for limited purposes only. Double Strike & trample do not commonly occur on cards, and this is a much more complicated card than... pretty much anyone else in the set.
Also, be advised: Propetic flamespeaking begins burning your clothes from the neck down. If the game goes long, bring extra pants.

They coulda given him haste, I don't have too much of a problem with pushed cards, this could have been an interesting contrast to TNN (this kinda card draw is good). He could still be a house at some point, just not sure.

There seems to be some confusion about the general purpose of rarity these days. Rarity simply means that you are more or less likely to pull it from a pack (and also, to a certain extent, thanks to New World Order, it also means the card may be more or less complex). What all of you are arguing is that a card (Bearer of the Heavens) that will only be used at the kitchen table should be pushed up in rarity because it's "epic", which in turn also means that you're pushing it farther away from the kitchen table players. Tournament players, the ones who are likely to go out of their way to buy useful mythics, will take one look at cards like Bearer of the Heavens and immediately dismiss it as unplayable. The kitchen table players would love to play that card, but they can't because their limited budget means that none of them pulled one from a pack because it's a mythic rare. You're arguing that Bearer of the Heavens should be kept away from the players who will actually use it because it deserves to have that orange symbol to show everyone just how "epic" it is. That's unfair, neverminding the players who will be disappointed because this was the "mythic they pulled" (Maybe if they play it they'll realise just how good this card actually is).
Don't argue for Mythic because you see it as a status icon, think of the children.

When it connects, you get 2 of Chandra, Pyromaster's 0 ability, which is my favorite for that card, because Red has trouble generating card advantage. I like mythics like these, powerful but not overpowered cards that beg you to build around them.

Ghor-Clan Rampager: Eat half your opponent's life and get cards, Trample redundancy be damned. Titan's Strength: Get 6 extra damage, a combat trick and stack a good card on the top. Madcap Skills: Put a clock on your opponent and ensure that this connects. Dragon Mantle: Make your opponent cry whenever you swing.
Soooo psyched I opened 2 of these badboys in my first JOU box!!
This card is truly amazing. Red Devotion is gonna be big. Watch.

a bit of a tough curve but id love to see this guy in modern with an unflinching courage on him! really neat card and wicked card design. albeit cant be tossed into just ANY deck. Has obvious interactions with growth spells, bloodrush and auras. Oh and Xenagos. If youre playing this in the right deck I give him a 5/5

Madcap Skills is a neat in-colour way to make this more likely to connect. I look forward to pairing this with Aqueous Form for the ability to tweak at least one of the cards that'll come up; this one will make fast friends with decks that scry. Ohhh and outside of Standard, I REALLY want to try this out with Sword of Feast and Famine. Protection from relevant colours to better swing through and the potential to cast expensive spells before and after Flamespeaker triggers since you get to untap? Sign me up.

"Pushed even slightly more"? It's already Vintage playable, which is no small feat!
This card is cool, I like how they switched up Daxos of Melitis here. Card draw in red, even though it is a creature without evasion, is something that beatdown decks want, and this accomplishes that very nicely. If it had haste it would be something like Goblin Lackey or Warren Instigator but being a 3-drop it is just a bit slow. Still extremely powerful in the right circumstances and it has one of the best keyword combinations possible on one card.

So awesome. I love the art and all of the abilities. He really loves to carry equipment (and I guess auras as well), so I threw him in my Tajic EDH deck. It is awesome that he gives red a way to draw cards, even if they are only usable for that turn.
I see some comments about his rarity. Some people think he should be rare because he is not epic enough, and others think he is good as a mythic because it limits circulation. To me, this card is amazingly epic.
You get to try to see what cards work with his doublestrike and trample. You get to try adding him into a red devotion deck. Maybe you have an aura deck and you use his ability to slowly add on more auras until you have an insane killing machine.
Another thing about being a mythic is that casual players will see it, know it's a mythic rare, and they will try to see why it's good, simply because its rarity says it is good.
This is a good mythic because it is cool, interesting, and also potentially competitive.
@evouga I don't think this is vintage playable. Have you seen what vintage decks look like? They are actually stupid. Maybe legacy playable which is still super awesome, but at 3 mana, it will have a hard time finding space.

Already seeing play in Modern; I wouldn't be surprised if this broke into Legacy too. What a bonkers card.

This is an undeniably great card that's undervalued at release because nobody has a clue whether a deck exists to support it - its a pushed card even without the exile ability. If I had to make baseless speculation, I think a deck will emerge and the card will get expensive, but it might not happen until the next block is out. Then again, he might never get good because he's too fragile for Modern (dies to Bolt) and too expensive for extremely aggressive decks.
However, its a very unassuming, and insanely fun card to play with. Opponents rarely seem to him as something more than a 1/3 with double strike, but you can get some totally bonkers hits out of this guy if you have any kind of pump. The first game I played after I put together a Flamespeaker deck I brained the opponent for 16 damage on Turn 3 by using my Elvish Mystic to get the Flamespeaker out on Turn 2, and then bloodrushing a Rubblebelt Maaka and a Ghor-Clan Rampager the next turn after the opponent declined to block.

Try Sword of Feast and Famine, if you're worried about Doom Blade. This guy is insane with any Sword, really. Or Jitte.
