The best defense is a good offence.

Victory indeed! This card is the very definition of a game-ender.

Iroas, God of KICKING ASS.

Kind of upset that he isn't facing the other way in the art so he would be opposite of Mogis, considering they are rivaling twin gods.

Four mana to make all your attacking creatures unkillable. Even for a god, that sounds hideously overpowered (especially since it's indestructible itself).

They called him "Iroas, God of Victory" because "Iroas, God of Immediately Winning The Game" wouldn't fit on the textbox. Also, because subtlety.

a lot of power for a 4 drop..
and the abilities are not exactly bringing it down

Dolmen Gate and Pyreheart Wolf never saw play when they were in Standard, why would this?

Gisela, sorry babe, but I'm gonna have to ask you to step down from that command tower and say hello to your new general.

It bugs me that all of the Journey into Nyx gods have two abilities (like their mono color cousins) and the Born of the Gods have only one. (besides Xenagos)

His biggest downside is the fact that his abilities are so wordy that he gets no flavor text. It would be "Winning!" btw.

All praise the god of victory, and his number 1 strategist.

Doesnt' seem that much better than Gruul War Chant in my opinion. Still has all the weaknesses of that (biggest one being sweepers) and doesn't even boost power.

my friend kept telling me that iroas was gonna be the worst god... WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!!! (I'm a boros player if you can't tell)

If my opponent hadn't tapped him down every turn, this guy would have single-handedly won me my pre-release. As it was, his abilities combined with some heavy hitters did that for me instead.

So the god of red/white... is a centaur?
CautionFireLizards
★★★☆☆ (3.8/5.0) (5 votes)
Not a Centaur - can tell by looking at the tail, which is clearly a bull's and not a horse's. This set up - with a bull's body and a human's torso and head - was actually the more popular way to depict the classic Minotaur in Italian Renaissance art. For example, the Minotaur in Dante's inferno is the ruler of the Centaurs, and has a Centaur-like body.

A horrible, horrible beating if you trigger him turn five. Which as {R}/{W} aggro, you really should be.

Exactly what red/white wants.
Letting creatures attack without fear of death is fantastic with this blocks Inspired mechanic.

Also, yay for EDH generals with 7 power. Only takes three hits...

Its interesting for me that he is an Italian Minotaur, see as how Italians tend to surrender

Oh wow, this guy is really powerful for a 4-drop. I thought Dolmen Gate was good, and apparently when you make it legendary and cost (R)(W) more, it's indestructable, can turn into a 7/4 creature simply by having a Nobilis of War out, and gives a Goblin War Drums effect.

Not to mention that you could cast Starstorm while attacking.

Thanks Deicide, for making this card not worth 30 dollars.

Very fun card. Not only will it allow you to make ridiculous alpha swings, it makes it so you won't even lose any of your guys so you can go in again next turn. You can basically alpha swing every turn with this guy.

I run this as my Commander. He's especially good alongside Lightmine Field, even more so with Dictate of the Twin Gods. Attack for a bunch, prevent damage from a minefield off of Iroas, double it, and if they attack with even 3 creatures the next turn, each will take 6 damage. Bonus points for having Heliod out as well.
