Death and Taxes, anyone? A Rule of Law that can be Æther Vialed seems pretty good, and it's even out of Lightning Bolt range!

Possibly not aggressive enough for Æther Vial... But I had the same thought. They're really pushing that deck, what with Spirit of the Labyrinth.

This is the best card ever! "I'm so smart! Here, watch me think! Oops, I forgot to eat! *dies*"
I'm sorry, I'm a little punchy tonight.

I love the art. The effect has always been a kick to the teeth. Nice to see it on an appropriate body.

Maybe against RDW in standard...? It's interesting to note that Brimaz, Nyx-Fleece Ram and this survive Anger of the Gods, so you could play these creatures and kill only their team.

so... here's a question... if this card is in play, and Eye of the Storm is in play, and a spell is cast, what happens? Does this affect the copies thrown out due to Eye of the Storm?
It seems to me this could go two ways... If no, then Eye of the Storm would allow people to rather neatly bypass the one limit, but would slow down or restrict the rate at which it grew... if yes, then Eye of the Storm would completely stop spells from being thrown, since the Eye exiles the spell when cast, and allows it's duplicate (spell 2) and the other duplicates if any (spells 3 and up) to be cast.
A ruling on this would be nice me thinks... thoughts?

I like it! Arcane Laboratory/Rule of Law stitched in a Horned Turtle. Those cards even have the same cost!

I like this series of one per cards (spirit of the labyrinth being the other) I wonder if we'll see a trend of these in conspiracy.
Oh Parasophia - this should have been blue, and it should have been you.

I expect this to see some play in eternal formats as a sideboard card against Storm decks.
I think this is going to replace Ethersworn Canonist in most or al modern decks that would run it. One more mana to get out of range from Lightning Bolt, Lightning Helix, Anger of the Gods and Pyroclasm? Sounds good to me.
I absolutely love how he shuts off Snapcaster Mageand kills him in battle without trading.

It's nice to see uncommons that aren't overly conditional being printed. 5/5 for being a distinct card that is uncontested in what it does.
ppossibility storm for a good hard lock. toss in some split second, copy abilities (such as Riku) or whatever to cheat in creatures/spells and enjoy a quick gg.
maybe a savageborn hydra t3, this t4 and storm t5

You have to admit, the Traveling Philosopher that became this card certainly had dedication.
Though I feel like this should have been a Spirit Advisor, in vein of the aforementioned card.

Already a Modern sideboard staple, if being in the 75 of nearly every white deck in the top 16 of GP Minneapolis is any indication.

Opponent - I cast Kiln Fiend.
Me - Okay, in response I Aether Vial in Eidolon of Rhetoric.
Opp - Oh, great.
"Ah, I see my diurnal musings are given audience once more! What brings you to the forum this day?"
Opp - Well I was going to cast Staggershock.
"Wanton violence? Surely you must see the value in restraint. It is in controlling the urge to overact that the soul is led to enlightenment."
Opp - I knew I should have sideboarded Flame Slash...
