SURPRISE PORTAL REPRINT!

It's like a Spanish Inquisition here. Or should I say a Chinese one?

Why is sleeping dragon in quotes?

I have to wonder why Zhuge Liang was the only personality in P3 to be referred to by his style name (the Kongming above).

I for one greatly dislike the rare slots being wasted on collectors cards that are generally worse than your average rare and (at least in EDH) uncommon.

Isamaru + Glorious Anthem, with a little more flexibility in terms of mana cost.

RAV, on the one hand, I get that. I really do. "Waste" is a pretty strong word, but I can imagine it's off-putting to you that *so* *many* of the Portal cards are present, rather than just, maybe Hua Tao.

But on the other hand, Consider that very many products are Value-based, for people that want to play the game to win the game. To win the game with Aggro cards or Control cards or whatever kind of play style, some more social than others, but there are plenty of light-Sided Spikes in the world, I bet you're one of them.

Modern Masters was the SPIKIEST release ever. like, freaking seriously. It's not a long shot to say that even with inflated prices, you might do better buying packs of Modern Masters than you would do buying a Pre-Con EDH deck- unless you really wanted a specific 5 or 10 cards here.

Portal is one of their very oldest secondary market flubs, second to the Reserved List and way, way ahead of "Pushed" tournament staples like Jace, the Mind Sculptor and Tarmogoyf. Wizards put two Portal Legends in From the Vault, then 3 more really desired Portal cards, that were even pretty functional, in Commander's Arsenal. Judge Foil Xiahou Dun WRECKED his secondary market value, even the originals.. they want to help collectors a bit here and there, to get these Portal Cards, but they don't want to flood every month with PORTAL! PORTAL! PORTAL! exactly because people like you, and....uh....most everyone actually, even fans of Portal, we want good cards to use in decks.

But people want to collect notable cards from Portal too. Like Legendary creatures, or amusing card names like "Borrowing 100,000 Arrows"

Commander Decks are bigger than Duel Decks, literally- 100 cards instead of 61 (I think 61?) and they come out 5 at a time.

out of FIVE HUNDRED CARDS, they gave us...6? 7 Portal cards? And I think Strategic Planning is probably more up your alley than Kongming, the Glorious Anthem that Dies to Doom Blade. Consider that Wizards has many many types of customers it's trying to meet the needs of, and don't be surprised if Commander 2015 has even more Portal cards....maybe as many as 10 out of 500.

There is still Toxic Deluge, True-Name Nemesis, Baleful Strix, Delevi, Prosperity, Basalt Monolith, Control Magic (though I dislike MTGO art).

Being fair and honest, WOTC caters more to your player type than the type that cares most about the Portal cards.

One of my favourite characters from the Red Cliff films, which made the deck an auto-buy for me. You can never go wrong with anthems.

I currently think this card is being overrated, is isn't worthy of 4.7/5.0. I'm not saying it's a bad card, though.

Kongming is one of the few Legendaries that are Anthem's themselves. Almost all Legendaries with a +?/+? ability for all creatures has some kind of restriction: Balthor (both kinds), Lovisa, Chainer, Ixidor, Kangee, etc. all only help a certain tribe. Ascendant Evincar/Hero both help only a certain colour and can hurt your creatures if they aren't of that colour. Elesh Norn is definitely better in effect, but creates a lot of hatred, which isn't the best in EDH.

All in all, he's a good creature. I'm happy he was reprinted, and I pity those who invested in Portal 3K, hoping they'd only rise in price.

"Sleeping Dragon" needs to be in quotes to indicate that, indeed, this person is not actually a dragon that is sleeping.
