Let's see: there's Blind Obedience,Frozen Aether, Urabrask, and Loxodon Gatekeeper. Which one do you find best? I'd say Blind Obedience is best here, it affects artifacts as well, has an extra ability, and is harder to remove, but this dude will still be a bomb in limited! I'd certainly play it if I could get a set!

I should think that most would chose Blind Obedience over this as B.O. is tougher to remove and also includes artifacts in addition to critters.

This is an aggro card- you shouldn't care about artifacts, this comes with a 2/1! Debtor's pulpit's extort fits better with a slow deck, it has extort.

Good against living weapons; might help white weenie be a thing in modern

Good against agro for hosing haste and good against control for taking away initial blocks. Awesome card.

Seams odd they would print a creature with this ability considering there is a enchantment that does so much more in Standard already... that isnt seeing much play.

but, its hard to argue with the effectiveness of 2/1's for 2 so maybe this will see play.

Me and my pervy amulet see right through your imposing-ness, lady!

I'd rather have Blind Obedience, but why not run both? This can at least attack if you control both, and it has a relevant creature type.

Of course, if Wizards prints a creature version of Stasis in Theros, I might go crazy.

Blind Obidience is better, but this followed by Fiendslayer Paladin sounds pretty scary.

Creatures like this one are the reason I wish the "Lord" creature type still existed.

It's not that Blind Obedience is better, it's that they belong in different decks.
This belongs in an aggro strategy. 2/1 with a great upside? Yeah, we've seen this work before.
However, Blind Obedience is more of a grind-y, control card.

The Sovereign may look imposing, but don't worry. It's just David Bowie.

To state the obvious this combos well with any creature based aggro deck. If you want to get a little more creative, then try comboing with Royal Assassin, Gideon Jura, or Sunblast Angel.

Oh. My. Word. I just got to play with one of these in the prerelease today in a green/white sliver deck. she is FANTASTIC! Do not underestimate this one, she is so so so good on the play in a tempo deck.

Good for white weenie, especially since it's a 2/1. I still think Blind Obedience is better. Blind Obedience taps both creatures and artifacts, has extort (which can be really useful mid - late game), is an enchantment in addition to enchantment decks, and it's CMC is the same, 1White. Might just buy four Obediences for $12.00 than pay $16.00 for a creature version without the targeting of artifacts and extort.

This is the best card in all of M14. We've learned from Snapcaster Mage and Dark Confidant that a 2/1 for two with an amazing ability will see plenty of play in constructed. It can fit in plenty of decks that run white, but I think it will be best in Naya Humans.

Oh, you want to Restoration Angel your Thragtusk so that you have a 3/4, 5/3, and 3/3 all ready to block? How about not?

All of the yes. I want a couple for Modern Death and Taxes really bad.

I would say that the soveirgn is way better in standard than blind obedience because of the ability to thrown in the 2 damage and be a human on top of it, but I have a modern deck that is constantly sweeping the board with cards like pyroclasm and terminus, so the soveirgn just doesn't work. But as I said, she is way better in standard because she can put pressure on them while shutting them down.

That's probably the Blackest flavor text I've ever seen on a White card.

I'll have to say that Blind Obedience is quite a bit better, even in an aggro deck.

Unlike an unimpressive 2/1, the extort is still relevant lategame (if you manage to get there for some horrific reason), and will probably take out about the same amount of life anyways from your opponent. It gives you a little bit more steam.

Also, if your opponent just overloads Electrickery or Pyroclasm or something like that, Blind Obedience will still be around to stay. And not many people run enchantment-specific removal anyways.

Aside from all that, the creature tapping is kind of only relevant in terms of blocking and haste. Tapping artifacts is very useful.

But IMO, if I am going to build a white weenie deck, I'll run neither- both of them don't really seem to have a place.

@Mistralis If you've gotten to the lategame with a white aggro deck you've already lost. Also you don't have enough mana for the extort triggers, so no Blind Obedience won't do more damage.

Is it just me, or is 2/1 the least imposing p/t ever? I mean, yeah, it can hurt, but it dies to everything.

It also doesn't make much sense for so many white creatures, especially non-combatants like this to have a higher power than toughness. This is white we're talking about. White should be getting 1/2 for their utility creatures. Not 2/1.

When I get a few more of these, I'm art-altering it to have a sniper's scope trained directly on her head.

@DoragunShinzui, 2/1 makes perfect sense on this card, because it doesn't die to everything. In particular, it doesn't die to tapped things. Which, given that it causes things to be tapped, works out fine.

Amusingly, the Imposing Sovereign doesn't seem to have a job of any kind and isn't even a Noble. She seems more like the Kim Kardashian of M14, distracting opposing creatures while not really doing anything useful.

@wolftree: She would be a Noble if that was still a creature type. WotC was asked about why Noble isn't a type, and she was namedroped in the answer (Ask Wizards, November 12, 2013).

What? Clearly her power is to make all the opponents creatures bow before her. This is completely legit in flavor.

GrandAdmiralThrawn89 No, not black, just evil, and evil in a very white way.

White opposes black - white is about the community, black is about the individual - usually that makes them line up along moral lines, but white also opposes red, Order vs. Chaos, law vs. Freedom.

Wait Freedom? Isn't freedom a good thing?

White doesn't think so. Freedom leads to selfishness and sin, chaos and unhappiness for the society at large, a community can only function when there is order, everyone knows their place, and follows laws set in place to guide right action. Freedom is not important.

And so you get white creatures like imposing sovereign. Does she want everyone to bow to her for selfish reasons? No - she does it because that is her place in society. Without her order chaos would prevail.

It interesting how that translates into mechanics. She's not anti black, selfishness can exist in her world, rather she hoses red. Haste - red aggression an impatience gets entirely shut down. On the other hand she's very weak to red, her toughness is 1, a spark jolt could kill her, it is rather this fear of red and its power that makes her aggressive - a power of two, and just a little like her enemy.

Isn't that how it always is.

People talking about how she's not a noble/lord... I'm more curious why she's a human and not a giant.

I mean, she's clearly at least twice as tall as those soldiers; Certainly don't look like she's being held up by anything.
