Reassembling Skeleton 5-8? Maybe not quite, but this guy will do just as good of a job in many cases.

I think Hkjek deserves a better card...

You can't kill the skeleton! The skeleton will live on (and henceforth be known as "Jack Black" in my playgroup).

You can't kill the Hekjek Hekjek will live on...
Planar Cleansing tried to kill the Hekjek But it failed! As I paid and returned his feet to the ground. Shock tired to kill the Hekjek But it failed! As I tapped two swamps and returned his feet to the ground. Tempo loss be damned! Doom Blade tried to kill the Hekjek Ha ha ha ha ha! It failed! It couldn't even target him!
no one can destroy the hekjek even if you strike him down with a vicious blow we are the vanquished foes of the hekjek we tried to win, for why we do not know
Vastwood Hydra tried to avoid the Hekjek But Hekjek was in the way, Scroll Thief tried to slip past the Hekjek But Hekjek blocked him all day.
Pacifism tried to defile the Hekjek But Blood Bairn proved it wrong, Celestial Flare tried to destroy the Hekjek But he came back before the battle was done.
This is not the greatest skeleton in the world, this is just a tribute. :)

They say he laid dead on his stomach, and pushed himself off the ground with nothing but his bone!

Reassembling Skeleton this is not. Why? Because you need to have two mana available the moment it dies. It's like regeneration, basically, except that it also works against -x/-x effects, sacrifice and so on. Still, having two mana available at the right time is pretty annoying. That's why Reassembling Skeleton was so good.

Like Undying, this triggers both "Whenever a creature dies" and "Whenever a creature enters the battlefield", but is repeatable. I predict that this will be powering infinite combo in the future.

In the course of regular play, very similar to regeneration, but with several key functional differences.
Notably: He can be "regenerated" after sacrificing him (Like, to say, a Phyrexian Altar). He can "regenerate" out of a "can't be regenerated" clause, such as on Damnation. He can "regenerate" out of -1/-1 counters, or -x/-x effects. He actually leaves the battlefield, then enters the battlefield again. This is important for things like Golgari Germination or Genesis Chamber.
I am also troubled by the fact that, in order to get the most use out of him, you need to leave {1}{B} free to revive him the moment he dies, something ReAssembling Skeleton would laugh at, despite both being Uncommon status and originally from core sets.
Yay - a returner that still suffers from 'shields down' moments.

The ability is kind of like regenerate. In comparison to regenerate.
Pros of this. Can benefit from a creature hitting the graveyard / entering the battlefield. Works on "cannot be regenerated", sacrifice effects, and 0 toughness.
Pros of Regenerate: Works well with most auras and +1/+1 counters. Decent synergy with deathtouch.

This card helped me against desecretion demon because when you have to sacrifice a creature card, i just use its ability and tap the card

Blood Bairn and this guy are good friends in my red and black deck; Gnawing Zombie likes him, too. Tenacious D is also fond of Wild Guess, Altar's Reap and Barrage of Expendables. Who hasn't taken a liking to him? My wife and her white deck with its Divine Verdicts and Wrath of Gods hehe.

Worse than Reassembling Skeleton? Yeah, 90% of the time. Still going straight into my Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper EDH deck.

Also, if you want to go modern, then Festering Goblin, Death Cultist, and Fume Spitter can all be more useful as well.
