Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle would be my current favorite use of this card. G X*3 as a casting cost for colorless damage is okay.

The very problem of this card is simple. Your opponent will benefit from mana ramp before you, and this can give him a huge advantage. But is good for Landfall trigger in casual.

With SoM now, I have a deck based around Tunnel Ignus + Invader Parasite. With one of each out, my opponent can only search for one card. In a monodeck, that is a guaranteed 2 damage. Every land after that costs 5 life to my opponent. Certainly not the most powerful combo, but it is fun. Although I do have to admit that it becomes significantly less powerful against multicolored decks (although it is still 3 life every land after the first thanks to the Ignus).
Other than that, it is just a bunch of landfall effects that really make this card shine. Lotus Cobra pretty much negates the cost of this spell so you can throw something else out there, Avenger of Zendikar is....yeah, overrun your opponents with Rampaging Baloths. The list goes on (Roil Elemental is my favorite though).

Collective Voyage seems like it's mostly better, nowadays. The spell basically acts similarly, bar some minor differences (Rosheen Meanderer can help this but not that, you might not want to give them as many lands as they an afford), so it's up to you.
