And the award for "Card that should be swapped out of the deck instantly for another Bloodbraid Elf" goes to...

I guess this could be fun, and the cascade deck can cast it, but most likely the effect will be minimal.
Put in a Prismatic Omen, however...

Looks awesome in the new frame. Speaking of which, how come none of the images have their black borders?

The new card frame looks especially pretty here. This could be a win condition with Prismatic Omen, as mentioned earlier.

It does everything so minimally.

This card's usually not worth it unless you're playing the Omen. Just look at all the other WUBRG cards. They have such bomby effects. Child of Alara or Sliver Queen for example. If you drop this card 5th turn, you just don't get as much out of it as you should.

Like I said on the other version, you need prismatic omen for this card to be any good. anything else is just not worth the work.

Generally kind of underwhelming. Got hit with this after the guy spent ages getting mana flooded in a five player game, and found I didn't really care. Prismatic Omen would have made it devastating, but without that or maybe a ton of dual lands that have basic land types it's not very powerful.

Actually cast this in EDH with a Prismatic Omen yesterday. Never did 28 damage with a Bloodbraid Elf.

I don't really like this card. It doesn't have such a huge effect that other 5 color cards need, considering how difficult they are to cast. Let's break this down.
Turn 5 (assuming no tricks like Prismatic Omen or dual lands)
{W} worse than healing salve (less life gain)
{U} worse than preordain/ponder(less card advantage)
{B} worse than bump in the night(less damage)
{R} worse than Lightning bolt(less damage and can only hit creatures)
{G} worse than sprout (not an instant)
(Note all the above cards are commons, this Last Stand is rare)

This also is requiring that you pulled this off will all basics, or you have the alpha or ravnica duals with the basic land types. If you use any other lands the effects will be even less fantastic, because if you use a glacial fortress rather than a plains you don't even get the life gain.

Obviously this is supposed to be played with snazzy dual-land-types-lands or prismatic omen, but even then there are more consistent, more powerful, and more fun things to do with {WUBRG}

I wonder if this was even playable before Prismatic Omen..
Maybe in a mono deck, with a few Tap for any color artifacts??

With Prismatic Omen, assuming just the 5 lands needed to play it: you gain 10 life, opponent loses 10 life, put 5 1/1 Saprolings into play, zap a creature for 5 damage, draw 5 cards, discard 5 cards.

Not shabby at all for only 5 mana =D

shotoku64:

"herpderp if card is not played with a tactic then it is really bad"

Seriously... in mtg...
Every card that doesn't fit in ANY other deck is automatically bad?... lol...

12 Lifeloss, Removal, Boardscontrol, 12 Life and extrem CA/CQ round 4 is nothing to laugh at. yes round four, not hard.

Surprised nobody mentioned that this is the only card that depicts Yawgmoth, here he is shown in his Black Mana Cloud form. You can see his teeth in the clouds and his eyes of lightning.

The person who made this Planechase edit clearly didn't know that trivia though as they cut off part of him.

krosan verge, all of the black dual lands, farseek, etc..

You get green ramp in black, then you get a black finisher in a 5-color card. Weird to be sure, but interesting.

Hang on, let me tutor my Academy Rector and a sacrifice outlet so that I can fetch Prismatic Omen. And a Sterling Grove or Privileged Position to protect the Omen... alright, now all I have to do is Infernal Tutor for Last Stand... Alright! Ready to rock off your socks! I can kill one creature, nearly kill one opponent, get a bunch of 1/1s, regain some of the life I've lost so far, and dig through my deck to find Ill-Gotten Gains or Conflux so I can do all this again!

If it floats your boat, by all means, knock yourself out. Some people just want to watch the world turn.

But understand that you're doing a classic Johnny thing, making awesomeness out of a normally terrible card. You shouldn't get offended when other players call the card awful, you should agree with them, and be proud that you found a way to break such a piece of trash!
