Wont be too bad if it had haste or even ETB/LTB effects

Why does everyone rate this 0.5? 2/2 flier is on it's own pretty decent. And that it returns to top of the library when it dies doesn't make it worse. It trades well with alot of fliers.

This is the spirit that never dies. Pros like me give it 5/5.

I hope you won't need it to block something bigger to survive.

Under the best of circumstances, this is a useful card. It's reliable and comes back even if you sacrificed it for an effect. On the other hand, unless you have extra drawing options, it'll slow down your momentum, especially if someone figures out how to use it against you. As it is, it's like one of the weaker phoenixes only in black and... oh my gawd, I just imagined a black-aligned phoenix. Wings like night and soulless, undead eyes...
... er, good card?

Only good in a slower control game once you have stabilized, this tries to ensure that nothing stops you from stopping the win you have carved out.
Also, potential way to prevent mill if you can sac each turn?

In Limited it may be acceptable... But if I'm in top-deck mode, and this guy clogs my top library card too much, I'm going to be ***ed.

I don't understand the abysmal ratings. If you're imaging this locking you out of drawing anything else just hold it off until you have a better board presence. And if you're imaging it locking you down because you're staring down a 3/3 and 2 life, guess what? You'd be dead either way. Every card has instances where it wouldn't be valuable to you.

Sealing your own draws is extremely painful. There's a reason Ivory Gargoyle (and the more recent Molten Firebird) have an option to remove themselves. And they're very similar cards, really. Sure you can choose not to re-cast the revenant, but then why use it? It definitely has its advantages (sometimes if it dies you WANT another flier, and then here he is), but giving your opponent the option to draw seal you should NOT be taken lightly.

This card is a great card in limited.
2/2 flyer for 4 is overcosted, yes. A recurring flyer that doesn't touch the graveyard is...useful. It trades with most of the other flyers and just comes back, and with Scavange buffing it up it can easily win you a game. It is also 1B so it is somewhat splashable.
However, it dies to the common removal card. If exiled, it ain't coming back and if you are in top deck mode this card can really screw you over.
4/5. A good card in the right situation and a fun pick in limited. Never gonna see play in constructed, I think, but who knows? Maybe in BUG control, with Blood Artist etc.

This card sucked when it was Gravebane Zombie and it sucked when it was called Undying Beast but the real issue i want to address here is Lotsofpoopy. I am convinced he works for wizards and is being payed to make all their abortions look better. He comments on every card with his "pros like me" BS and says something nice about the card no matter how worthless and seeing his comment on this piece of trash was the last straw and i had to call him on it. Cards like this are totally useless unless you have a specific combo for them and all they do is lock down your deck. You would know that if you had ever played magic before with all of the pro friends that you have who sit around playing Giant Spider as their answer to flyers when playing green. The fact that you havent been banned by wizards from commenting on these cards is only proof that you either work for them or just get off on talking up all the crappy cards that are coming out in this set. Not saying that there's not a lot of good ones but seriously i challenge anyone here to think og the worst card in the set they can and go look at the comments and you will see poopy saying "adda-boy wizards! that another great move on your part everyone else here is dumb and not pro like me because they didnt notice the one redeeming quality of this card and scream to everyone about how great it is."

Alright, time to look at how much I hate this card.
4 mana for a 2/2 flier is acceptable (generally only in limited) when it is stapled with a reasonable ability. Runewing and Bloodhunter Bat are recent examples of this.
A 2/2 flier isn't going to do much on its own. Chandra's Pheonix is about the top of the line in this case. It is 1 mana cheaper, recurs to your hand, and has haste. (I know I'm comparing to a rare, but there should be much less difference between a rare and an uncommon)
Dark Revenant, on the other hand, takes an extra turn to play with another needed to attack, and will completely screw up your card draw if it dies. If it dies, you may as well have taken an extra mulligan at the beginning of the game. I'm not going to tell you how important card advantage is, since there are many others who can do it better. Simply put, this card gives your opponent an easy way to gain card advantage over you. It makes every kill spell against DR stronger, along with every block/attack. For those thinking "Well, it will always come back as a blocker," if you need to keep using this as a blocker, then you're not going to win the match. You won't be able to draw anything out of your deck to permanently disable whatever is attacking you. The only time this card will break even on the card advantage scale is if you kill one of their creatures with it. And any experienced player would gladly trade a creature to force you to draw the same card again.
With some support its a fine card. You need some extra card draw, and black does that. Also you need some way of benefiting from sacrificing a creature, and black does that too.

2/5. A 2/2 flier that never dies for 4. Slightly overcosted, but an ok limited pick if necessary. Otherwise, its strictly a casual card.

Returning it to the top of the library is actually a drawback. I think it's a trick to appeal to new players, as they won't think it's a drawback.
The usefulness of the ability scales with the usefulness of the card.
In this case, if you'd rather draw Dark Revenant over any other card in your deck, you've probably already lost.

No, no, no, just go into the graveyard! Sheesh, with abilities like that, who needs drawbacks?
And remember, whenever you take Lotsofpoopy seriously, Maro kills a kitten. Please think of the kittens.

If I read this correctly, with Athreos, God of Passage out, this can be stacked so that it comes directly back to your hand unless your opponent pays 3 life, in which case it goes on top of your library. Could be fun.

I could see a deck abusing this with Search the City. Imagine:
4 x Search the City
4 x Gravecrawler
4 x Dark Revenant
4 x Mist Raven
4 x
4 x
Update: Why, hello there, Enter the Infinite
