I love smashing my stuff. I throw it in decks just to kill things that are going to die anyway. It's so fun. And I don't think this card works with Old Man of the Sea the way you're thinking it does. Unless it's your opponent's Old Man of the Sea. Then its all like "You took my saproling? BAM! It's gone now."

would be cool if you could gain control of a creature, attack them with it, then sack it. If i see one of these in a bargain bin i'll throw it in my Bolas deck.

Cards that work well with this one-drop:
Hatching Plans
Stasis
Illusions of Grandeur+Donate
Pongify (if my understanding of the rules text on Despotic scepter is correct, you'd be the owner of the ape token.)

Emergency way to trigger a Kamigawa dragon's enters-a-graveyard effect. Works well with other stuff with 'enters-the-graveyard' effects, as well.

Be funny to make a deck full of bad cards with no win condition... just to simply play them and smash em.
"I play squire. Now I kill it. ok, go.

@GrimGorgon: Read the Oracle text. It's permanents you OWN, not ones that you CONTROL. So no Bolas, no Old Man of the Sea.

Anyway, you guys aren't thinking hard enough about its uses. Juxtapose, Simic Sky Swallower, Cultural Exchange, and especially Confusion in the Ranks make this card more than usable.

This card is useful for cards that offer decent abilities, but have the possibility of hurting you. Some examples: Demonic Hordes, Minion of Leshrac, Mana Vault, Lord of the Pit. This card can act as a "safety net" so you can get rid of the card before it does any real damage to you. Still, it's use is very limited. (2/5)

So it's basically old man Biff's cane, and you knock yourself on the head with it?

Combo with Kira, Great Glass-Spinner so that then you can attach equipment to one of your creatures on your turn.

Eh... I'm pretty certain that there's now a lot of useful sacrifice outlets available that at least provide some benefit instead of just nothing.

Having said that, the sheer range of stuff this can deal with is fun. Also, consider Switcheroo-based shenanigans - swap a Reassembling Skeleton with their big nasty, splat the skeleton and bring it back. Could also work as a failsafe for Zedruu the Greathearted decks.

What?! Nobody's mentioned Hatching Plans? or Ichor Wellspring? or Mycosynth Wellspring?

Aside from all those amazing cards that you can pair this with, you can also use it to save your stuff.

The most notable examples I can think of where you can save some of your stuff with this is Sever the Bloodline and Detention Sphere.

Better that something goes to the Graveyard than being Exiled.

Great for ditching that Thought Lash you used for some cheap damage protection before it kills you.

Very, very Johnny card. And a useful one at that. Fun to imagine you bashing your commander in the gead to death before a tuck spell resolves x3
