I still like Kraken Hatchling better though, since its a 1 drop. Still great for blue.

This creature doesn't look very dangerous and few people will bother blocking him...then...hit him with Twisted Image, draw your card, deal 4 damage and watch your opponent cringe!

Hatchling was broken. This one is ok. It's almost like Counterspell - good reason to play monoblue.

I'm giving this guy an automatic 3 stars just for the card flavor and the artwork. Then I'm giving him 2 extra stars because he's an offensive Kraken Hatchling for 1 extra mana.

Good blue blocker. Good with Infect maybe. Also, its really fun to throw Accorder's Shield and Argentum Armor on him for a 7/13 beatstick with a built in Vindicate. And, if the mana is a bit much for you, Grand Architect is a good friend of this giant ostrich/emu/chicken thing.

Sweet defense role player. Nothing wrong with that ridiculously beefy 4 toughness
Alright, why on God's green earth doesn't this thing have Island Walk? It's called Plated "SEA STRIDER". WHY CAN'T IT STRIDE SEAS?

i very like card with CMC UU adding a 'color flavor', or better, card with CMC UUU like Charisma... or BBB like Underworld Dreams with deep color concept.
i think we need more of those card, which make more sens than a light colored card with deep color concept like Everlasting Torment (with 3 effect, but only 1 colored B/R in his mana cost).
this one is strickly better than Maritime Guard, but he needs to play heavily blue or take some risk... but definitivly, 1/4 for 2 it's a novelty in blue... so it give a stronger option in standard to a player who want to reduce him or focus into a specific color...
a good suite to Kraken Hatchling... and i think his +1/+0 make him nearly equal to his predecesor... Easily 3.5/5.

Seems to me that "beast" is an unused creature type in blue. All wizards and drakes. Although a friend of mine has several Slippery Bogle in his monogreen beast deck.

Nifty against those pesky early-game first-strikers (Im thinking Porcelain Legionnaire here) and generally Lightning Bolt-Proof

i nearly choked on my drink when i read this. nice one Kryptnyt!
Not terrible. However, Plated Seastrider sorely lacks the elegance, efficiency, and clarity of purpose of Kraken Hatchling, its predecessor. For the slightly steeper yet slightly more splashable cost of you could get Deceiver Exarch, which while also 1/4 is made infinitely more useful by having flash and a great choose-one ETB effect.

Looks like something out of Star Wars empire strikes back. I like the the art work.
This always reminds me of the Star Wars AT-AT. I keep expecting Luke Skywalker to trip this thing up somehow. Ok, enough of the cross referance. for a 1/4 vanilla. Decent blocker but will never be an attacker. You almost wish that he had Metalcraft Gets +1/+1 and gains Islandwalk. But most of the time this was just unplayable. I feel bad rating this card so low when I enjoy most of Izzy's artwork but the card itself isn't playable.

For a card clearly designed solely for limited, not having a cost of boggles the mind.

@ StreamHopper - there's no reason to believe that a SEAstrider can leave the water... they aren't called ISLANDstriders... so if anything, the most flavourful ability would be Islandhome... would you prefer that???
