Excellent for swampwalk.

it's Spreading seas in black
No draw, but the pain seems like a flavourful change to the card.
Looks like it'll work wonders on Naya and Bant.

It's a kind of a Evil Presence of Psychic Venom that really wants to get used for some filthy things.

Yes for swampwalk and if the opponent do not play black it can be good since the land is only a swamp .

I want to play Black/Blue control with this and Spreading Seas. Because I know EVERYONE plays black/blue control...Right?

Well they will NOW :D

Yeah I already bought the STD cards to make the BU control deck with this and spreading. I think some of them might actually go up in price a bit.

Neat spin on Spreading Seas :)

That's just sadistic.
I love it!

This can be brutal if they get this early and you're running a few colours (none of which is black). I lost more than one game to this at the prerelease.

In a way, I like it better than spreading seas. Spreading seas can be tapped without any harm, but this can add up to a lot of pain over the course of the game.

I once got three of these out on my friends green aggro deck very early in the game with a couple dark rituals, before he could play any powerful creatures. He finally got fed up with this and payed 6 life for a leatherback boloth with a giant growth and attacked the next turn. Two words: DDOOOOMM BBLLLAAAADDDEEEE!!!!!!!!!! Much cursing and lolz insued and I won soon after with a hellcarver demon and a massive currupt later. Good times. Excellent card for shutting down your opponent early on.

I love this card. I run this card just to be annoying for revenge all those times spreading seas was used on me.

Lol awesome card. I went and then my opponent put down a arbor elf, i contaminated it and began to laugh as i contaminated any land he put down.
what would be even worse is playing in a team and having 8 of them on the field

This card is annoying, especially when played against you early on w/ a mono-color deck, My question is this: once it's cast, who actually controls that enchantment? Is it the player who cast it originally, or is it the player who's land is now contaminated?

DonRoyale, you gave me my most sadistic plan yet. Blue/Black Control/Mill. Bloodcheif Ascensions will gain counters, Spreading Seas and Contaminated Grounds will control them, and any countered spells or brutal milling will kill them. Blue/Black Control/Mill will maybe become tournament staple soon.

This'll make people curse my zombie tribal even more!! Turn one: dark ritual, carnophage, contaminated groud on opponent's only land. Not a game winner, but quite annoying.

Psychic Venom is one of my favorite cards. I'm so glad they reprinted it with the fun Evil Presence flavor as black. Add Icy Manipulator to this to make it even more fun.

Run with Filth. The two are definitely more than the sum of their parts.

Will it still be played now that Evil Presence is getting a reprint in new phyrexia?
I never found the loss of 2 life to be particularly helpful myself.

Fantastic card. Obviously great for Swampwalk creatures, but it also combos well with Fatestitcher.

I prefer this to Spreading Seas. Yeah, Seas has a cantrip, but that's only temporary, and it doesn't hurt them much to tap it. This equals a lot of pain in the mid to late game

@BiOhyBr Given the GGG requirement of the Baloth, I don't believe your friend would have been able to play it in the first place, given that the lands would only be able to tap for black mana.
