I know this may be stating the obvious, but when this is put to you on turn 2 it hurts, A LOT.
Especially now that we have a set focused on dual colors...

So instead of Red getting even remotely efficient land destruction (which I think it deserves since it can't generate card advantage OR deal with enchantments) we get a reprinting of a card that sees zero play ever ever ever. Just make Molten Rain cost RRR and I'll be happy.

When this first came out in Rise of the Eldrazi at least Bloodchief Ascension was a thing...

Annoying in ROE when there was just mono-colors running around. But now, with dual, and tri-colored decks? Yikes.

Yay ROE reprint! I'm happy to see it put into a quasi-cycle, instead of it just being alone.

Like Spreading Seas, the damage is not as important as messing your opponent's land, gaining tempo advantage.

You got mountain, mountain, mountain, plains? Well, now you got mountain, mountain, mountain, swamp. Fun Times.

I hate it when my opponent plays this on my forests.

So, swampwalk is more reliable now, and cough, cipher, cough.

This card won me games art the prerelease, whether it allowed them down, or slowly killed them. It also let me stall a pay expensive cipher costs.

Nice bit of social commentary with that flavour text.

I absolutely love how wizards made this and Verdant Haven almost but not quite cancel out. Green will keep on ramping regardless, and black will keep on bleeding you. Everything just seems right in the world.

This card is basically Evil Presence + Psychic Venom. In the right deck, effects like this can really hamper a multi-color manabase, while picking away at the opponent's life total should they tap. Besides the obvious synergy with Filth and swampwalkers, Icy Manipulator and things like it can keep a land with multiple applications of this enchantment tapped every turn for multiple damage. A fun common that can get a new player thinking about how to get the most out of it, as well as thinking outside the box when attempting to win games with it, while not being obviously overpowered.

Only slightly worse than Spreading Seas. Remember how good that one was? Yea.

That's some real talk in the flavor text though.

Really, really excellent card in limited. Helps slow down the game considerably, helping the Orzhov almost completely incapacitate the Boros for the early game. Will almost always colour screw the opponent, and punish them for trying to keep up anyways. Makes extort all the more powerful when life is spent so easily (and desperately) for mana. Happy to see the reprint.

Whenever I enchant my brother's land with this, he puts the land aside and out of sight, knowing how dangerous it is to use mana at the cost of 2 life.

At 2 cc, this spell seems a bit too good. It is a common and in draft it is fairly easy to get 3 or more. And if 1 is annoying on turn 2, imagine a 2nd on turn 3. Especially if your oppoent won the flip, and you play your 1st land and on their turn turn, they cast it, and then you play your 2nd land and they hit it again. Now it costs you 4 life to cast anything. Not fun.

A brutal blow to anyone's mana, especially all the special guildgates and shocklands around nowadays. Shuts people down and shuts them down hard, even if they're already using black.

In a standard where top-tier decks can manage perfectly well running 3-0 basics, this thing can mess with your opponent's plays like you would not believe.

Whenever this get played, I picture a mountain that suddenly falls straight down into the swampy dirt it sits on.

Interesting interaction with Hidden Strings.

I find this better than land destruction cause we are not use to deal with this kind of card and it's a pain to use the land if we can use it cause now the beautiful shock land is a filthy swamp that punish us when we tap it.

Great flavor too but this is filthy control and i don't know if playing this is very enjoyable for every one.

Severely underrated card, only real downside is that it's black and not blue, it just works so well with Twiddle, Hidden Strings, Gigadrowse, or really any number of blue tap target permanent cards. This can be a serious game changer.

Good in an LD deck especially. Mix with swampwalk creatures (obviously.) If the player plays into your LD you get a bunch of damage in, dramatically shortening the game compared to trying to keep them off of lands and beating their face; but it just feels so wrong to them to not try and resist with that mana. Mmm

Even without LD they'll likely feed this 4-6 life or they'll stall a turn or two; which can be just as bad. (Unless they have enchant removal ready)

This card won me more than a few games in draft. As others have said, dropping this T2 then another T3 is absolutely devastating when everyone is running a two or three color deck and needs a reliable manabase to function. Fits well with both Orzhov and Dimir since they both need to slow the game down when facing Boros or Gruul.

And the flavor text is legit.

Screws with multicolor, deals with nonbasic land, enables swampwalk, and chews out some health. Solid little utility card.

Hello Nykthos. How does it feel to be a common land? Also, Let me just un-chain your mountain.
