This guy should gain control of lands, just like Conquer.

That being said, he's fun, I'd run him in mono-red.

Nothing to see here, really...I mean, Act of Treason on a solid body is great for Limited and casual, but he's the foil of a starter deck...Were you expecting him to actually be Constructed-playable? :V

For six mana, I get a 5/5 flier with the following options: Sacrifice any of my opponent's non-shroud creatures to whatever I like (devour?) -or- attack with my opponent's fatty and hope to take out one of his/her other creatures (preferrably both) -or- deal some walloping to my opponent. Choose all three if the creature happens to have trample and you have a sacrificial effect around.

We have a million of these now. That having been said, we also have Bazaar Trader to make their effects permanent.
5/5 flyer for essentially 2R cost, and a threaten, smashed in one card. not bad. Altar of Dementia is hungry.

He should so be able to target himself...Awesome card, though. Looks like a lot of fun :)

A fine card but compared to Dominus of Fealty it doesn't hold up, seeing as both are rare.

Ohh I likey. Now they need to make more Devils aswell. Brilliant card for taking away Eldrazi. They need to make more manticores in the future...and devils

I completely agree with LUR. this card should be much better.

I like that it's a manticore, I like that it can steal my opponents eldrazi and hurt them with it, I like that I can use bloodthrone vampire to sac. my opponents creature once I'm done with it. It would be even better if it had haste, or cost 5 instead of 6. Its a fairly impressive creature, it just seems less impressive in the wake of cards like alaras ethersworn adjudicator, lord of extinction, and in zendikar rampaging baloths and then admonition angel in world wake. Still awesome, no matter how you slice it, especially if your opponents creatures has some sort of tap ability or something deadlier like stealing their It that betrays and attacking them with it. Not sure if its extended playable, but in standard it should fit in somewhere, for sure in black red probably, where stealing your opponents creatures and sacrificing them is more viable.

"Conquering" my ass, until end of turn doesn't count as conquering to me. LAME.

Splinter Twin. I'd do it, if mine wasn't already in the Ally deck.

I see one great use for him already: Dealing with Emrakul.
Before you shoot the idea down:

Emrakul has "pro colored spells." He can't be targeted by anything with a color that counts as a spell. Conquering Manticore's effect kicks in when he enters the battlefield.
Since the Manticore is on the field when his effect goes off, he no longer counts as a spell, meaning he can legitimately target a creature that can't be targeted by spells.

A 5/5 Act of Treason that I can use to grab and nom nom those pesky Eldrazi for my vampires?

Yup, sold.

Epic artwork, with a very handy ability and not too spendy.

This guy has INCREDIBLE synergy with Splinter Twin. I had someone use this combo during the pre-release and it was basically GG.

A 5/5 flyer for 6 is a pretty good deal to begin with , his ability makes it a no brainer.

At least a 4/5

This card is broken, especially if you pull two in a draft. Stealing a rapacious one with demonic appetite on it two turns in a row, made me never want to draft again.

Well... Pretty nice card..

But... Lol, this beautifull picture of the manticore is a pure copy of Belltower Sphinx

A nice card, I like it. Same playing speed of Act of Treason, that of a sorcery, and it has a nice body, that of a five five. That can kill plenty of creatures, even Air Elemental or Serra Angel. Taking an opponent's creature and attacking them with it as a bonus? Very nice, I run it in my Grixis control deck, if you don't know this card take a look.

I can see a use with this guy and Where Ancients Tread in conjunction with Sarkhan the Mad. The goal is to cast this guy, a creature or player gets a free Lava Axe or Lightning Axe to the face, you steal a fatty and smack somebody with it, then sac said fatty to Sarkhan's 2nd ability, getting another free 5 damage to throw in someone's face.

For the most part by the time I cast him & he enters the battlefeild I'm already dead.. My if you had 2 in the same deck it'd be more chance he'd come out intime to help get you out of a sticky situation..

hmmmm 6 for a 5/5 flyer, with act of treason, when i look back at the 7 for a 6/6 vanilla the starter decks have certainty picked up allot over the years...

he seems to be just within that range where you dont know if this is good or kind of average, he seems enticing, and he looks like a game finisher, bring down your opponents defence and swing with your other creatures, if you gave him hast he would be the bomb!

i think he is worth 4/5

The last time I played in a standard tounament, an abyssal persecutor was staring me down, and I had 7 lands out and this guy and a fling in my hand. You should have seen my face when I topdecked that mountain. The Luls would have been proud.

Anyone feel they love this card, but not if it was a dragon? Definitely feeling dragon fatigue, happy to see other big creatures getting play.

I'd be more interested in playing this against Progenitus than trying to play it against Emrakul.

Emrakul Timewalks. Emrakul Flies. Emrakul makes you sacrifice permanents BEFORE you can even declare blockers, or cast spells. If any of your blockers fly. If any of your spells are colorless.
And Timewalking gives it 'pseudo-haste'. With 15 Power.

I think you are just probably going to lose if an Emrakul ever enters the battlefield under your opponent's control. I do not dispute that, if you are still alive, this ability might still work. Just like O-Ring can best Emrakul as well. But...

There are better uses for this than that. Better as in = more likely. If they aren't casting Emrakul from their hand, they are comboing it before you can get this out. Probably they are doing both. Combo-casting it. So...sorry, but this is one 'anti-Eldrazi Tech' that I'm not sold on.

Use this on Consecrated Sphinxes, use O-Ring on Emrakul.

Run from the Manticore, it senses your fear, so there's no way to hide now!
It's a creature like no other before, a feral killing machine, so you should stay inside now!
Cower before the Manticore, under cover of night it will beat you 'till you're black and blue
A terrifying carnivore, you better watch your back because it's gonna make a filly out of you!

@Guntz: Don't forget Dominus of Fealty, Threaten, and throw in Bazaar Trader to keep control of those creatures you steal for one turn... FOREVER
