Amazing card in limited and/or drafts... landfall anyone?! Snag something that triggers or help out your own Roil Elemental every turn. Nasty.

It's a great card when you snare a good landfall card, yet it costs to much to be great all the time.

There's a reason the art looks like it's snagging Abyssal Persecutor. It's the perfect counter. Take the demon, then just sacrifice the snare once they're at negative life.

Roil Ellemental plus Vapor Snare is an excellent setup. Nice.

This card is ridiculous in limited. It's nuts with the common EBT lands from ZEN or WWK. If you have this and Halimar Depths on the field, you get some nice deck filtering. Khalni Garden gives you chump blockers every turn. I think the "oh, by the way" is that you get to steal your opponent's bomb. Excellent utility card!

if the creature is exiled, do you still have to pay the land cost?

I am sorry, but for me, mind control has a black flavor. As a blue mage, you can read the mind and calm emotions, but real mind control should be forbitten by any law and therefore be black. (Blue mages shouldn't use this, because it makes creatures dumb and this would destroy any creativity)... and black mages don't have a problem to be surrounded by mindless creatures. Blue mages would rather create mind loops instead... or sleeping effect abusing and harvesting the ideas for their own benefit.

Cheza, for you to be concerned for mind control to be forbidden by law sounds to me like you are a little on the White side of Blue. Each color, having two allied colors, has spells that seem a bit on either side of itself, as well as purely that color.
For example, Black has spells that seem a bit more Red, (straightforward destruction or killing, like Sinkhole.) and some that seem a bit more Blue (Deceptive and Manipulative in nature like Head Games).
Since Blue is in-between White and Black, it takes a neutral standpoint in terms of morality. Both an evil mastermind and a fair judge could use Blue magic for their own unique purposes, to get their own way with someone or to divulge the truth to bring about justice respectively.
Hope that helped.

Great when the bounce comes in handy, but something that can be read as a cost when not building around it should reduce the mana cost. I suppose it reduces the color, but still...
Love it anyway, as you can build around it. It's Azusa time!
