Well, Wrath, you've been good to us - but maybe you were just too beautiful for this world, sayonara.

Ummm they don't need to put Regeneration clauses in this... BURIED is not Destroyed...

The Text says Destroy all nonland permanents. on a side note if you meant that you can't regen from being destoryed you are mistaken, seeing as how you can regen from deathtouch which destroys the creature after it has taken damage.

@SavageBrain89: I suppose it was because "wrath was too good".... but really it was all the selfish children who complained about their army of creatures getting blown up before they could actually kill the opponent... who would have thought that a game between two people would have BOTH players trying to win!? @Ender_the_Xenocide: You win the best comment award<3!

I think it was less that "wrath is too powerful" and more "let's make this particular removal a little slower/weaker for now."

You all seem to be missing the absolute beauty of this card. Wraith of God only removed creatures. This removes ANY nonland permanent. So, should your opponent have enchantments, such as Levitation, Rage Reflection or any artifact that might be giving them life, or even a Planeswalker close to game breaking loyalty counters, this removes it. It costs a little more because it removes more.

Martial coup is the new wrath of god from what it seems. This card is only usefull if you want to destroy creatures plus enchantments, artifacts, ect

Definitely not a Wrath of God but always good to have a backup reset card in a deck.

My opinion is, WoG is better in most situations, of course it can destroy non-creatures, thats cool, but god-damn expensive for the purpose.
Oh, not mentioning there isn't ton of white creatures with regeneration, so to regenerate your creature(s), multicolor is probalby a must (not so cool since it cost WWW). And keep some mana to regenerate, probably, so the mana cost of such move is getting even higher. And hope your opponent doesn't have anything with regeneration (especially because he doesn't have to pay billion mana for the spell).
Still, woodsgirl is right, it's good game reset and.

dude, it isnt WoG
it costs 1W more, and wipes planeswalkers, enchantments and artifacts yes it costs a lot, 6 is a lot period, but you use this to wipe bombs, why are you thinking of regenrating your dudes, chances are, if you need to resort to this, you dont have many left
and for all of you who miss your WoG, IT WAS REPINTED WITH A NEW NAME, you can stop crying now

I'm surprised their haven't been any comments on the awesome artwork yet. Look at that stunning light/dark contrast, the amazing shadowing, and the gorgeous detail -- notice the castle on the right and the little lake on the lower left.
Seriously, whether you like the effect or not this card is a visual masterpiece. Props to Michael Komarck.

It's Wrath that costs two more to throw enchantments, artifacts and even planeswalkers into the line of fire. What's with all the hate?
Not to mention it bears some of the best art in recent memory, and that's saying something.

Quite effective in EDH, I imagine. I also figure they wanted their to be a bit more budget friendly wrath-type card out there in extended.

I can only assume Wrath was removed from the core set so that WotC could do a renamed version of it in Zendikar. This gives M10 a Wrath effect, while being different enough from the Zendikar Wrath (greater cost, hits all non-lands, doesn't prevent regeneration) that they can share the Standard format without '8-of'ing each other.

I LOVE this card! I usually play pretty fast decks with low-cost everything, but having an eraser just simply rules. I'll hold critters in my hand, take a little damage, let my opponent put his good stuff out, get comfortable etc...
Then BAM!!! Drop this bad boy and it all goes bye-bye. Especially if he just tapped himself to put some huge green critter with trample or some stupid elf that makes all other elves have shroud or something stupid.
Then I drop a bunch of cheap critters and send the farm. It's even better than Wrath, because it gets rid of their annoying enchantments, artifacts and those loser Planeswalkers.
Nothing Repalced Wrath Of God It's Still Everywhere You Dolts And If Anything Repalced It It Was Day Of Judgement Why Are People Comparing This To Wrath Their Nothing Alike. Great Art Good Card

I have this card and have used it about 1 in 6 or 7 times that I have had it in my hand. It is a card that has a limited playabitity, but so does many cards.
Under certain situations is just the card you need others it does as much to hinder your progress as it does to help.
My question is this if a creature has shroud and can not be the target of spells or abilitys is it destroyed?

I agree that Austere Command is better because it's more easy to twist into an advantage for you. Planar Cleansing *does* hit planeswalkers though (ironic, given its name).

Some commenters are saying that this card is expensive. Seriously, though: why would anyone want to bring out this card anytime before, say, Turn 4? The card has an appropriate cost for when it would be cast: during mid-game (around Turns 4-8 with some mana acceleration for the earlier turns) when the opponent has a material advantage and/or nasty enchantments that you want to eradicate.
If anyone wants a pre-Turn 4 board clearer, then splash some red and cast either Pyroclasm or a 3-pt. Earthquake. Both of these cards would clear most weenies in a pre-Turn 5 environment. Or, if you're worried about a horde of Vengevines, then... well, okay, Wrath of God.
In any case, Planar Cleansing has its uses.

You want to spend 6 mana then regenerate during the same turn? Nah drop some indestructibles like darksteel ingot and darksteel plate. You might be able to fit in a couple regenerators though if you really want, but not too many.

This is good, but what about the land creatures made with Liege of the Tangle? They're lands, so they're immune to this. That's good or bad, depending on who plays it.

It's probably a little bit worse than Austere Command, but who cares? It looks awesome, it has great flavor, and it's incredibly powerful. Clearly it's at its best in multiplayer/casual, where it will often remove lots of annoying things that neither Wrath of God nor Day of Judgment can.
That card really needs to be remade and just say "Each player exiles their hand, graveyard, and all permanents in play."

The shading on this is beautiful. I like that artists assigned Wrath effects are all trying to prove they can outdo Kev Walker (who gets props for having instantly newly-iconic Wrath art).
With a slight palette change, I could see this art working for Evacuation too.
This card makes for an interesting comparison with All is Dust, which is splashable, but costs more and doesn't hit artifacts. Makes me wonder how often the artifact destruction is meaningful.

Apparently due back in M13, probably because its casting cost makes it more of a counterweight to Mutilate than Day of Judgement would be.
EDIT: Well, I got the "due back" part right, but I misrecalled Mutilate's casting cost as 5B rather than 2BB...

People whining about its casting cost should really rethink it. I am currently playing an all white soldier delay deck complete with tokens and counters. I can force ANY opponent to a twelfth turn easily. By then I have stalled and delayed my opponent to a very sizable field. I play this and everything including my dear Ajani goes into the graveyard. Then it's a quick Faith's Reward to the win. The combo could be gotten sooner with mana acceleration but this actually works better as your opponent has gotten heavily into casting big cards by this point.
