Terror that can kill everything except black creatures? Insane. The "no regenerate" might be gone but who's complaining when you have a spell that can take out most creatures in the game? That, and regenerate is a scarce ability anyway.

Nice card, HATE the name. Sounds very juvenile. "I'm gonna kill you with my DOOM BLADE!" Yeah, it sounds extremely cheesy.
Note: Zevilmustache, the reason removal is so good is because 2010 goes on the assumption that they need to overpower something to suck in the older players who would hate the rule changes, such as the re-addition of Lightning Bolt. It's kinda like that expression you hear from time to time, "Come to the dark side, we have cookies."

Oleander has a point... the guys in R&D think everyones gonna jump ship cause the rules got changed (not that they realy changed much at all) so they felt the need to do this... personally the only problem i have with the new stuff is that my remove souls and others that were reprinted exactly the same with diff names are now useless. the thing i liked about the core sets was not having to buy new cards lol. But hey its the nadir of capitoleezem.... oh yeah, my point. The poeple that jumped ship are idiots or babies, as if the games gonna stop being fun if i cant sac my mog fanny after dam. plus the word changes are great.... lets bring "bury" back already :)

Better than terror, there are alot of articat creatures these days and regenerate is an uncommon abiliy...thus Doom Blade is slighty better than its counterpart.

I think someone wants us to play mono-black decks again. This is why they printed this card right? They upgraded the terror with the same manacost. this must means something I suppose.

Good card, but the art sucks. The big dark stroke is ugly. May have been alright if it were thinner, but it takes up too much of the picture.

Wizards are clearly trying to remove the "It can't be regenerated" text from the modern game. And in most cases, it just makes the card cleaner and more elegant. We already have "exile" and "sacrifice" effects for when regeneration shouldn't be possible. And for those complaining: When was the last time you killed something with regeneration with your Terror or Wrath of God?

its a Desent card, i prefer Terminate though, even if it cant hit things with protection from black or red.
also i think this is how Akroma died a second time, because if you look at the angel, its Chippy's version of Akroma.

Good card that wins over Terror in some siuations. It can distory Artefacts, but the creature can still regenrate. Overall, it has it's good and bad sides. I think you just have to use it right.

Terminate is better for any deck that generates red mana, and was reprinted in shards of alara. Doomblade is still a nice cheap spell, as long as your not fighting a black deck or creatures with protection from black.

An excelent variation of Terror, even better for the current metagame, with about half the blue creatures and 1/4 of the whites from Alara being artifacts, and the rumor of a return to Mirrodin in the next block. Perfect!

BUT for strait black Doom Blade is tops XD Til this card I was playing Terror alot.

Right up there with Terror as one of black's most effective creature-blasters. It doesn't have the "bury" or "remove from game" power, but for a measley 2CC, this thing is a destroyer.

EDIT: i added two of these, took two feast of blood out, the feast looks good on paper but a lot of times its a dead draw.
the other two feast of blood went out for two tendrils of corruption and i added 4 urge to feed too.
awesome card, still i slightly prefer hideous end, even if i have to pay 1 more mana, i run 4 hideous end and 4 feast of blood as removal, none of this, not to say its not worthy but those two go better with my deck, feast of blood is just incredible in a vamp deck and hideous end goes well with my 4 lacerators besides its always nice to get the opponent lifes down.
Thank god (or wizards) that we have all these cheap and actually usefull removal to clear the table of those baneslayers (among others).

the photo on this card was taken just 2 seconds after the photo for baneslayer angel. true story.
Only problem with this good black removal, is that so many people are playing Jund or Vampires, that I end up having to sideboard it. Great cards, but I stick with terminate and then go with smother.

This is a good card, and I give it 4.5/5, but at the same time I refuse to run these maindeck with the metagame as is, and I doubt I'll do so even if its reprinted in M11. My reason? At the last FNM I went to, i was playing my blue-black mill control deck, and I was running 4 of these for removal. Out of the 8 or so players there, only 2 of us were not running Vampires or Jund. I couldn't target ANYTHING with them. The next time I go card shopping im picking up a playset of Essence Scatter. However, if it weren't for the popularity of the above two archetypes, these would be an auto include in any black deck

Check out http://twitter.com/Doom_Blade_Guy if you haven't, he gives the card's perspective on each new set's cards. Example: "Transcendent Master. I'm currently planning my Endzone Celebration for catching someone as they spend the twelfth mana."

Funny part is, most regenerating creatures I can think of are black anyway... Still, I'd often rather pay one more to have an Unmake, and not have to worry about regeneration, revival, death abilities, et cetera. Though with a Jet Medallion, this becomes downright scary. Also, Isochron Scepter, 'nuff said.

The classic. The classic that isn't even a year old yet.
This is definitely a better card than Terror in my opinion. Reasons: Flavor: do you kill a creature by cutting it in half with a giant blade of nothing, or do you... scare it? The choice is obvious here. Mechanics: would you rather be able to kill an artifact creature or a regenerator? This isn't as easy of a choice but I would still give advantage to Doom Blade here. Especially with Esper and Scars of Mirrodin being out.
If you're not playing standard or anything there's some wisdom in running both, but I would still call Doom Blade an improvement over Terror.

Phyrexian Lobbiest, baneslayer angel does not have that hair colour. Her's is more brown, and it's kinda curly/wavy too. It appears to just be some random angel trying to fight the forces of evil.
IMO, Terror and this card are pretty equal. The blade can get artifacts, while terror makes sure that creature will stay dead. It really depends on the deck. With Scars of Mirrodin being the most recent block, Doom Blade is better at the moment. But if its a non-artifact, non-black deck, Terror will do just as well.
My recommendation? 2-3 of each in your black deck. Change according to the other person's deck.
