I LIKE expensive auras (Epic Proportions, Pollenbright Wings, Runes of the Deus), but this seems like too much even for me. Now, if it only made the enchanted creature a black elf spirit, THEN we'd have something.

This card could easily be replaced in everyones deck with Silent Specter. Its easier to play, and a creature itself. Instead, I would spend energy stocking Dragon Shadow, or perhaps Dauthi Embrace for your Silent Specter.

Gosh, your opponent discards TWO whole cards! Now while you're waiting for the mana to PLAY this card, how many cards will you discard? Probably more than two... Just use a Bonesplitter, a Neurok Hoversail, and I guess a Specter's shroud. They will cost 5 or 6 to play, more with equip costs, but as I like to say: Take an equipment! It'll last longer! At least such equipment are colorless...

i don't get all the bad hype surronding this card. I won a tournament with it equipped to a grixis Slavedriver. I almost always have enough mana to play it and it's actually great in a discard deck equiped to a 7/7 Nyxathid

Card is WIN in sealed deck environments, those games last a lot longer.
Also combos well w/ Sovereigns of lost Alara... guess I'm the only one who reads the little book that comes in the fat pack. ;)

Gelectrode and Cinder Pyromancer would go well with it. Lot's of instant-speed discard, damage to the face, and when your opponent is hellbent, just attack for 3 flying damage.
Niv-Mizzet works well, too. You draw a card, they discard 2, attack for 7.
The card disadvantage and mana costs of casting this aura is pretty high, but as long as you aren't relying on combat damage to get its effect, I think that it can be quite a powerful card.

Remove that red mana and this card becomes worthwhile. I have no idea why they stuck it there in the first place.
I've found that it works well when used with The Fallen, as your impotent opponent will be discarding two cards during each of your upkeeps as well as whenever The Fallen lands a blow. However, this is not exactly an easy trick to pull. Putting it on some flavor of Tim would probably be more effective.

Not bad in limited, when auras are a lot better, provided you have the land to fix the mana.
In constructed, it's far too expensive and suffers the fate of most auras - kill the creature and you've traded 1 kill spell for 2 cards. Now, putting it on an Uril the Miststalker... +5/+5 and discard 2 cards on a 'super shroud' creature? Cool!

i love this card,im gonna need 4 of them.
thanks wizards
I once had this and an Unscythe on an Eldrazi Spawn in EDH because I was out of creatures and my general was too expensive (Thraximundar DOES cost 7 and I was stuck on 6 lands) along with the fact that my opponents had removal flying around. It somehow lasted 8 turns, and the tale of Billy the Grixis Eldrazi will live on in infamy after causing my opponent to discard his hand.

To be blessed with a fraction of Lord Bolas' powers... oh to dream...
