I Like The Idea Of This Card And Rhinos Are Toatally Awesome But Could Any Deck Really Be Sucessful With Waiting To Play Your 1/1s On Turn 5. Good In This Set Though Squire And Nactl. Maybe A Figure Of Destiny As Well. All Have Good Color Similarities.

This + Elspeth will win game, but that's a given. I think that the GW tokens just got a major boost in power.

also perfect for tokens deck spectral procession three 3/3 fliers!

At first glance, this turns a 1/1 token deck into a killing machine.
Looking at it again, I can see how to do so much more...
Also, this guy is so fat, people mistake him for your mother.

Limitless combo potential combined with a Rhino Soldier makes for one splendid card.

I think that Doubling Season really wins here. Even the lamest cards like Spiritual Visit suddenly have a whole new meaning. Don't even think what happens with Spectral Procession.

I've been researching this guy in standard and there are tons of options: Mobilization, Goblin Assault (you get a lightning bolt every turn), Verdant Force, Mycoloth, Oona, Rhys the Redeemed, Rise of the Hobgoblins, Creakwood Leige....the list goes on.

@ thaviel - Apparently you didn't read the Martial Coup card, you put the tokens in play first, then destroy all other creatures.
This really is an amazing card for token decks. Pretty much necessary.

How about Sigil Captain, Muderous Redcap and Nantuko Husk? Seems like a near ideal infinite combo - play Redcap, 2 damage. Sack to husk, it persists. Put the damage trigger, the captain's trigger, and the persist trigger on the stack in that order... Redcap becomes 1/1, 3/3, deals three damage. Sack to husk and repeat: Husk becomes infinitely huge and Redcap deals infinite damage.
An infinite combo off of three cards in three colors... not terrible, as they go.

The abilities don't stack, the 1/1 comes in as a 3/3 before the second ability resolves. Great card tho.

This guy got even more powerful when Conqueror's Pledge came out. Get six 1/1 tokens, turn them into 3/3's.

Awesome card. It really begs people to play tokens, and I think I might just do it. A token deck with Juniper Order Rangers, Sigil Captains & some good token producers seems like a great idea!

@isandhlwahna Technically it wouldn't, because the Martial Coup would kill your captain as part of the spells effect as the tokens come into play. Good idea, though.

I have a question. If you have a Goblin Chieftain and Sigil Captain in play, what happens when you play a 1/1 Goblin?

READ!!... Juniper Order Ranger and Sigil Captain adds +1/+1 counters, not remove it. So please stop with this infinite combo that will get newbies started. Logic invalid.

@ Hokeymon yes it is true what your logic is based off of. I agree when I first read it (and other cards like it) adding a +1/+1 counter would not remove a -1/-1 counter. However in the rules, which I looked up to clear up my confusion, it specifically states that the addition of a +1/+1 counter to a -1/-1 counter will cancel them both out making it a +0/+0 (or in Sigiled Captains case a +1/+1 since it adds two). See rule 120.2 in the rules http://www.wizards.com/magic/comprules/MagicCompRules_20091005.txt
@ hunterewell It won't add any counters Sigil Captain triggered ability checks twice, if a Goblin comes into play with Goblin Chieftain in play the ability sees that the Goblin is a 1/1 and when it tries to resolve the Goblin is constantly a 2/2 so it won't work. It would work if that Goblin was a 0/0 because of Engineered Plague because it enters play as a 1/1.
As far as cards go every time I see this guy I think of Mycoloth. Which has the same cost of a similar color idea, two greens to two whites. While Mycoloth is definitely a green green white card, this guy is really white white green and insanely good in a green white solider tribal deck many soldiers are 1/1's and get extra bonuses. And of course good with 2/2's with persist.

a good card to include in your "Allies" deck which mostly consist of 1/1 creatures with ETB abilities if you stack the triggers correctly.

The problem with sigil captain is the creature has to be 1/1 vs. using a liege at the same mana cost. At the same time, it also makes him ridiculous for things like token decks. Thus is the sigil captains pro vs. con. Now if it gave 2 counters to anything that hit play it would be much better, but then also maybe quite overpowered.
@Sveni1980: This+Murderous Redcap+ Something that can sac the Redcap <=== That would be ashnod's altar for infinite colorless mana and infinite damage, or altar of demmentia for insta-mill and the damage. ;D
Always remember him in your Hazezon Tamar edh decks. That double white mana cost makes him brutal to put in a lot of decks that could do really cool stuff with him though :( I tried so hard...
Maybe now with Hero of Bladehold. Put two 3/3 soldier tokens into play tapped and attacking, they get +1/+0 until end of turn.

Enormously useful card in a Saproling deck; all of your tokens start out at 3/3, and with Pallid Mycoderm, you could sacrifice 4 to make all the rest 7/7 and just wreck your opponent.
Also makes Kazandu Blademaster pop in as a 4/4 with First Strike and Vigilance for 2 mana.

For most purposes, Juniper Order Ranger is superior. The ranger is easier to cast, the ability stacks, and it affects all creatures (including the persist creatures that are not 2/2s). However, the captain is so much fun, and encourages 1/1 decks and plays completely different. My 1/1 decks include a playset of Captains, as well as two rangers. Between white and green, there are three 1/1 fliers for 1.

Makes it a bit of a shame that the cat tokens produced by White Sun's Zenith are 2/2.
Also helps keep a weenie/token deck from getting hosed by Æther Flash. Saprolings and Doubling Season like this a lot.

@JoeyWalker No, I think this was for Saprolings and Soldier tokens. is the traditional color of Saproling decks (in Ravnica, at least. Time Spiral pushed too.) He does work well with goblins in block as well. Dragon Fodder drops a pair of Canyon Minotaurs.
And anyways, Wild Nacatl would NOT get counters unless you didn't have the Plains and Mountain out when he resolved. Check this guys rulings, he looks back at the creature to see if it is STILL a 1/1 at the time his ability resolves.
