somehow letting it bypas defenses with cards like crafty pathmage and then hitting with a might of oaks will most likely result in a gg. people i play with like to target this card for destruction more than any other card in any other deck i have. :P

Unfortunately this won't do much by itself... But this chould do a pretty good job with Infiltrator's Magemark. Or something else that evades blockers and protects it from your opponent's removal like Whispersilk Cloak. Inkfathom Witch will also be handy once he gets through.
if you turn 2 boomerang there land then turn 3 this guy followed by some sort of unsummon/capsise on turn 4 your opponent will be so far behind it's gg

I like the idea of pumping this guy with reckless charge and distortion strike, but I'd like to add Assault Strobe to the mix. Seems good to me?

I love this card. It gets blasted every time he hits the table. (along with the Raven Guildmaster)
I had a short argument tonight about who gets to choose the permanents he returns. I said I did since I controled the creature. I feel that I'm right based on the discussions, but the other person got butt-hurt and scooped after he took 3 damage and lost 3 of his 5 permanents. He disagreed with me about who shoudl choose the permanents to be returned to players hand. Does anyone else interpret it this way?
I play this in my EDH with Rafiq of the Many as my general. I can't tell you how many times I've come out ahead because I drop this turn 2 or 3, and then Rafiq the turn after and swing with a 2/2 double strike, which will bounce 4 permanents. After that, it's usually gg because of their loss of tempo.

do people just not read it says target on the card, so yes that means its targeted, and you get to choose it.
@ MurphyLaw Whenever Cephalid Constable deals combat damage to a player it triggers his ability. All abilities act as a psuedo spell which are under the control of the player that controls the source of the ability. The exception to this is if the card states who decides how the spell resovles like in the case of Blizzard Specters first mod of its triggered abilities.
So in short you are right. Tell your friends they can suck up the permanents or the can suck a lemon. Either way this will leave a bitter taste in ther mouth.

One of my favorite cards. Put it in my blue-white enchantment deck with Infiltrator's Magemark, Sigil of Sleep, Auramancer's Guise ..... you can make the constable a major threat, especially early game with the right hand.

He needs support in 3 different areas, Anti Removal, Evasion, and Power boost. Once you get those three things down his ability becomes good game.
I like the combo with Reckless Charge. to bounce 4 lands, nasty. Just got to catch them with no defender.

So I have been working on a constable deck for a long time and have found / been suggested many cards that aren't on here that are much better than a lot of what is on here. @shadenfreude you should check out Steele of the Godhead, other cards that are awesome are Wings of Velis Vel and if you are running green for might of oaks then Gigantiform seems like a must to me. also Cold-eyed selkiehelps this deck run very smoothly especially since all your cards for the constable work really well for the selkie too and help you get out the constable.

Tricks of the Trade for some casual fun. And by fun, I mean they'll probably flip the table a time or two.

This card is really good in a 1v1 Rafiq of the Many commander deck. If you can throw down either some ramp or distruption on turn 1 or 2, this guy can hit for 4 on turn 3 or 4 (depending of you playing ramp of distruption) and will pretty mutch win you the game from there
