Would that Bazaar Trader gambit work?

I suppose it would, you could tap it, targetting your opponent, then before the ability resolves, you tap bazaar trader to exchange control of him, and when his ability resolves, he'll damage his target, then damage his new controller.

Is that how it would work?

No, JoshuaFH. If you activate Orcish Artillery, then "donate" it with Bazaar Trader, you (the owner of both Bazaard Trader and Orcish Artillery) would still receive 3 damage. This is because when you activate Orcish Artillery and put its ability on the stack, you OWN that ability. When Bazaar Trader donates away the Artillery, you still OWN the ability on the stack. If/when Artillery's ability resolves, you, the OWNER of the ability, would still receive 3 damage.

This isn't necessary a very bad card, playable in casual as a finisher since red should be depleting life faster than their opponents

Though if they fail, this card would be quite useless

So red has a long running subtheme of cards that can ping at the cost of dealing damage to you. At this point, there's enough of these "artillery" cards in the game to make a silly casual deck. I made that deck. Here it is:

4 basilisk collar
2 coldsteel heart
2 swiftfoot boots

2 deathless angel
4 goblin artillery
4 orcish artillery
3 orcish cannoneers
4 sparksmith
3 stuffy doll

4 pariah
3 personal sanctuary
2 enlightened tutor
1 orcish cannonade

2 vault of the archangel
(more land)

So personal sanctuary and artillery cards certainly have nice synergy as personal sanctuary removes the downside of artillery as long as you use it on your turn. Pariah is great too. Pariah is a fantastic card by itself. But it works well with artillery- if you need to kill a fairly big creature badly, you can now tap an artillery and 5 damage will hit the creature: the three damage that artillery would do to you is rerouted to the creature with pariah on it. Add that to the 2 dmg you've dealt to the creature already with an artillery. Or if you like, take out two separate smaller creatures. What's nice is that you can still do pariah artillery antics while personal sanctuary is in play- you just do them during the opponent's turn.

The fun starts when you stick pariah on a stuffy doll. By itself, I think pariah plus stuffy doll is a sort of mean and predictable combo and I'm not crazy about it. But what is fun is when you have that combo out and artiillery cards on the battlefield. Congratulations, you've now turned your artillery into a 5 dmg per turn threat! Or deal two dmg to an opponent's creature, three damage to them, and repeat it the next turn. And you're probably not going to die so long as they can't get rid of stuffy plus pariah...

And then there's basilisk collar. An artillery equipped with basilisk collar destroys a creature and the lifelink negates the damage the artillery deals to you, so you actually gain 2 life every time you use the equipped artillery. The funny thing is that if absolutely everything goes right in the deck, a basilisk collared artillery can do 5 damage to an opponent and gain you 5 life every turn. See how?

I also "splash" black with city of brass and vivid crag/meadow for vault of the archangel. Worth it? Idk.

So the deck isn't particularly good, but it is ironic- it turns the downside of a fairly bad line of cards into an advantage. And if you have some casual Johnny in your blood, that's something that you can't help but enjoy.

P.S.- Mogg maniac certainly wouldn't be bad in the deck either, as he has synergy with pariah and sparksmith. Also pain land+ pariah= fun

You see, Killbots have a preset kill limit. Knowing their weakness, I sent wave after wave of my own men at them, until they reached their limit and shut down. Kif, show them the medal I won.

Say what you will, but Khurzog is one hell of a brilliant tactician.

Even without finding a way to negate some of the damage to you, the ability to hit for 2 at any time just by tapping can be worth the cost of 3 life.

There are so many creature with 2 toughness or less that are a must kill, and this guy is a repeatable cannon to take them suckers out. Not to mention you can always fire on the player for the last few points of damage.
