Only useful in a multicolored deck of at least 3 colors I'd say...

This card makes it possible/easier for the Hulk Flash combo deck to go off on the opponnents upkeep when the opponnent goes first.

Is there a card that can create any kind of counter you want?

If it's in your opening hand, it produces one of every color and you start with a free land down, but you lose the card advantage from going first. I think it's worth it for that, but the rest of the time, it's just a tap for colorless land. And to make matters worse, it's legendary. If you put in enough to get a reasonable chance of getting one in an opening hand, you'll end up with a few just sitting in your hand by lategame unless you have a discard/land sac outlet.
Potentially awesome, but it definately suffers for being a legendary land. I suspect if it wasn't legendary it would be broken though (imagine getting lucky with 2-4 in your hand... + 1 land turn 1, that's 3 mana before even a ritual or similar!

Too bad it's legendary, but I understand why. Otherwise, I LOVE IT!!! It's so awesome for so many decks including Hypergenesis and 1st turn counters.

So, considering you can choose who goes first if you win the opportunity... you've got a 75% chance that you'll start the game with this as an any-color generating land.
Pretty good odds if you ask me.

Yea, I think this is the key card for enabling Turn 0 wins.

@BOSH, @achilles: "...and you're not playing first," It can't enable turn-0 combos by default, because you won't have it out. So if you get this, you have to want to go second.

@JWolps no but there is giant fan in unglued to move a counter from another permanent and change its type. For legal cards you need leech bonder, chance encounter, to change this land to a creature and to change chance encounter into a creature. Oh and a coin flip to put a luck counter on chance encounter. Ya, not worth the effort :P

I clicked random card and came here. Do i get a luck counter?

multiple counters would not give extra mana, because it doesnt say it gives one mana per counter. If it has a luck counter on it, it gives one of any mana. imo, card advantage is more important :P
maybe use this in a rainbow deck? legendary, so wouldnt want more than one... and 1 colourless < any land
@djbon2112, you dont choose to go first or second after you see your hand ^.^

One of the many fun things that turns a Reflecting Pool into a five-color land even when it can only tap for colorless. Put both in the deck and this card becomes almost a guaranteed five-color mana producer, directly or indirectly. Also interacts with a few other oddball cards like Squandered Resources.
There are still better, more reliable multi-color producers. My current favorites are Gemstone Mine and the Vivid cycle of lands from Lorwyn. This is a really cool design idea though.

Too much luck to get a luck counter on this thing...

I wonder...this seems like maybe a more likely fit for FTV: Lands than Gemstone Mine, actually.

@JWolps and others about making a counter of any type - It is now possible with cards that have proliferate (this ability wasn't printed at the time of JWolps' comment). Steady Progress is one example.
Just grabbed 4 of these bad boys for Casual and Modern. Why Modern? Well think about it this way. This card bears a strange resemblance to a banned card in that format. And yes, I am talking about Chrome Mox.
Think about it.
Turn 1 (technically Turn 0) free mana source. Both exile a card from your hand.
I have a feeling when this was in development, they thought of a way to reprint Chrome Mox in a "fixed" manner, but also have a nostalgic feel, so they added a sort of whimsical ability to turn it into a fusion of Gemstone Mine and Chrome Mox. For example, this is Legendary, and requires you to be going second, as to disallow any shenanigans before your opponent can react. This also does have bonuses too though that CMox doesn't have. It hits all colors regardless of exiled card, and is a Land, making it harder to interact with than artifacts, can exile anything, and still functions even without a hand.
While it is still worse in general terms because of its limitations, this card is still very strong and very underrated.
Your opponent can actually hose this land game 2 by going 2nd.. Make sure you sideboard these out.
@Yirkis Actually, as stated above, they could win on the coin flip by choosing to play last. And then you will be stuck with colorless mana.

Usually worth a one-of in any deck the color-weight is manageable. If you get it, you have a tempo advantage even if you got stuck going second. Allows things like a first turn Hymn to Tourach. I think I'll try it, though it worries me a little as I hate getting color screwed.
The "remove a card drawback" is really just an equalizer so it's *as if* you went first.
SIde note: If you're crafty, you can move luck counters from chance encounter onto this; not really an effective strategy, but fun to get weird looks.

Every card in Time Spiral was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.
During the 2005 Invitational Tournament, Wizards of the Coast held a public vote among the users of their website for the most popular card among the submissions; that card would also be printed after going through the usual R&D process but without featuring the winner in the art. The winning card was submitted by Tsuyoshi Fujita.
This card's name, art and mechanical references to Gemstone Mine.

I think I'm gonna tech this in a few tempo decks as a 1 of, opening with it is just so good, preferably followed up by a wasteland.

You even have a little bit of an advantage over straight going first because it's almost looting, instead of just equalizing by not drawing...

The odds would actually be a little higher than that, since each card drawn that is not the gemstone cavern would effectively increase the odds since the next card is the one you want. The odds are a little closer to this:
