It's dangerous to go alone. Take this.

What if-I play this card, use its abilty, boomerang it to my hand then play it again, can I use the ability again on the same turn?

Good way to ensure landfall and allow your basher to block.

I semi-randomly have this in a deck with Stone-seeder Hierophant. Top-decked this and flashed it in to block a blue flier until I could banefire ftw. I love cards with weird combinations of abilities! I'm talking to you, Vedalken Æthermage

So this guy has some nice little landfall tech. Allow me to demonstrate with a nice little budget deck that actually has some teeth to it.
4 Quirion Ranger
4 Skyshroud Ranger
4 Sakura Tribe Scout
4 Scryb Ranger
4 Wirewood Symbiote
4 Steppe Lynx
4 Plated Geopede
4 Adventuring Gear
4 Silhana Ledgewalker
4 Explorer's Scope
6 Mountain
6 Plains
12 Forest

If you have more money you want to throw at it, Worldy Tutor Mother of Runes and Ghost Town are excellent choices. It's not unreasonable to be dropping 3-4 landfalls a turn by turn 3. Watch out for board clearers, but single targets can be avoided with Wirewood symbiote, and you can block bounce with it as well. It's no Vintage worthy deck, but for the 15 bucks or so it'll cost you it's quite good.

Happy playing.

Not as good as Quirion Ranger, but if you need the added redundancy of additional pseudo-copies, this card is certainly worthwhile.

Flash, flying and creature untapping for 1G. That combination of cost and abilities would be good even in blue and it's not even a rare to boot! How have I never heard about this?

Turn 1:(Forest) Llanowar Elves or the like
Turn 2: (land) This card
Turn 3: Don't have a land to put onto the battlefield? Tap the two land you have and the the Llanowar (3 mana in pool) return Forest to your hand and untap Llanowar, place Forest back onto battlefield, tap Forest and Llanowar again (5 mana). Not bad for when you get stuck at 2 land. I could see this exact play happening many times.

Around my play group, we call her "Scribbles." And what does Scribbles do? WELL.

Consider the body you're getting.

-1Green for a 1/1 with flying. Okay, that's a Sea Eagle. But you have to remember that green is starved for fliers. So it's average in that sense.
-Protection from blue. This isn't terribly relevant most of the time (How often is a player going to try and Unsummon a tiny creature?), but it's a lot more important when you factor in...
-...that she has flash. This is especially good in a mono-green deck, when your opponent isn't expecting something to stop their flying beaters.

Now we get to what makes Scribbles awesome.

Once per turn, she can bounce a Forest to untap a creature. The utility that this ability provides is absolutely ridiculous. Landfall has already been mentioned. Untapping a big, nasty creature after an attack (at instant speed!) to block is always welcome. She can even provide a little extra mana if you miss your land drop. (This works especially well with mana dorks like Birds of Paradise.)

And it's art from Rebecca Guay. Come on.

Never, EVER underestimate this card. It's like a PS3 - it only does everything. =P

I prefer seaker of skybreak. Granted it won't untap a defensive creature but it can still get out Apes of Rath again.

Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.

This card references Scryb Sprites and Quirion Ranger and green's "protection from blue" creatures such as Karoo Meerkats.

Looks good. However, this really wants to be in a deck with blue where the protection from blue actually works against you.

Seems like a good card against blue. The untap ability for free also is not to be underestimated. Besides combat tricks floating around, if you miss your land drop and have a mana creature, this can ramp +2 mana in a turn. Float forest tap bird, return forest untap bird, play same forest float 1 more mana and tap bird.

opponent: i'm gonna use wasteland on your savannah..
me: i'm just gonna flash in scryb ranger aaand bounce up that savannah in response on that *grin*

it does everything this little fairy. it can ramp a little mana on its own but combos very well with alot of creatures, i.e. knight of the reliquary and mana-dudes to get some kind of land/or insane mana ramp. it can fool your opponent into attack or play a spell when you are seemingly tapped out..

it is a green flier, a rarity in green.. with flash and it has prot blue, which helps out against i.e. delver and jace

don't forget that you can use the ability each turn, your turn and your opponents turn :)

Turn 1: Cavernof Souls name elf, Heritage Druid.
Turn 2: Llanowar Elf Elvish Pioneer, put a forest into play tapped. Play a forest from your hand, use heritage druid and the two new elves to play elvish archdruid.
Turn 3: Tap elvish Archdruid for 4 green, play scryb ranger, bounce a forest, untap arch druid, tap again for 4 more green and go to six, play the forest from your hand, tap cavern and forest to go to eight mana, then craterhoof behemoth to give all your dudes plus 6/6 till end of turn and attack for 32.

I think this is still the cheapest non-rare creature with at least four abilities. Time Spiral was such a great block.

One of my favorite cards. Fun, flexible, practical.
