This card does nothing offensive to a Dredge deck or a Reanimate deck. "Target player shuffles any number of cards..." AGAINST a Dredge/Reanimate deck, your opponent just chooses 0 cards, and shuffles those back. You, the controller of Loaming Shaman, only chooses who it is who decides to shuffle cards back.

@arglypuff: Incorrect. As stated on the rulings on the main page of the card: "Loaming Shaman's controller chooses all the targets when the ability is put on the stack." As it says "Any number of Target cards, the controller of Loaming Shaman chooses the cards. So yes, it is good against Dredge and reanimate decks. Granted, cards like Ravenous Trap or Tormod's Crypt are better offensively, this is much better used in conjunction with something like Momir Vig, Simic Visionary that can pull those cards right back to your hand.

Can be used as graveyard hate against certain decks, or can be used to shuffle your own threats from your graveyard back into your library, and is a 3/2 for {2}{G} to boot. Good card and in addition can be used against a mill deck.

Good against Dredge decks? How about AMAZING for them. You don't want to run out of a library do you? Use him to put all your non-Dredge cards back. I'm making a Golgari deck and I can tell you right now 2 of this are in it.

I love this. There's a card called Repopulate, or something, that does the same thing for 2 CMC.

The low rating for this card is astonishing. At 3/2 for a very splashable 2G, it is ahead of most creature curves. It can act as equal parts hate and utility, and is great with tutors (Chord of Calling) or a favorite of mine, Momentary Blink.

I can easily picture him shoveling the scraps of a Vengevine and a Gravecrawler.

Needs to be reopened for discussion.

The potential of the etb ability offensively against graveyard decks and defensively against mill, is immense. I'm thinking there must be some kind of deck that significantly benefits from his ability, guessing some kind of owling mine or self mill deck drawn too thin. So i suppose the ideal would be to board him in against gy decks, and have his ability hit both the opponent in a negative way and you in a positive one.

That said, all of thisnis only to harness the wicked flavor of this card. Bet its a sick foil.

Flexible gravehate that works against a variety of Legacy decks, but can instead also fuel yourself to victory by refilling your deck with threats lost over the course of the game. This is the ONLY mass gravehate creature that does it immediately. Cards like Scavenging ooze require a lot of mana to do the job.
