This card has a great art and if used right wins you the game on the spot. His tap effect is nice also and gives you a 4/4 replacable wolf, to bad its legendary. One of my favourite cards and Ravnica is the best set ever in my opinion.

Would make for an interesting EDH general.

Note: Tolsimir's tap ability + doubling season + twilight drover = lots of counters.

Once I used Scout's Warning to play this guy after my opponent decided to just take the damage from a multi-creature attack. Needless to say, that was game.
Selesnya's one of my favorite guilds (at least, in concept/game application) and between Tolsimir and Glare of Subdual, it's one of the best guilds, too.

I also really like selesnya along with the simic guild, with the new multi colored cards in shards of alara cycle you have plenty of white/green to go around. I can't seem to find a bad reason use to naya, there are so many combos with it, including all these classic cards from ravnica. The only issue I have with tolsimir is he's a 6 cmc 3/4, and you can't tap right away, and if you tap the next turn to get the wolf you can't use the wolf right away either. If he ever gets removed your left with a 2/2 wolf. He's sort of a pumped up liege.

I think it's funny how his wolf token pal, after the buffs, is stronger than himself.

@ Lauralell Legendary wolf token.

@ all4ourking: Lauralell counts with that. Tap, make two tokens, both legendary - they go to the graveyard immediately. So, Twilight Drover gets four counters. Repeat each turn.
At any time, you have possibility to pay three and throw away one counter for four flying tokens. Nice, yeah?

@Tarmin
Tokens don't go to the graveyard, they just leave play.
But it doesn't matter here because Twilight Drover counts when creature tokens leave play, so it still works, but try to use the correct rules/terminology.
But yes, they both die immediately.

Tokens go to graveyard, then get removed from the game as a state-based action.

Please know the rules before you attempt to correct someone else for not knowing the rules.

110.5e A token that's phased out, or that's in a zone other than the battlefield, ceases to exist. This is a state-based action; see rule 704. (Note that if a token changes zones, applicable triggered abilities will trigger before the token ceases to exist.)

This is practically Fonn Zunich (from the Ravnica trilogy).
Except the name is different and Fonn is a woman.

But she had her signature wolf (Biracazir) and in the third book she showed great leadership among the young scouts (+1/+1 to creatures).

Awesomely cool card from Rav. Hope they do a better job in Rav Revisited than with Scars of Mirrodin. I just thought most of the cards in Scars block were kind of bland and unrelated, especially in Besieged. New Phyrexia was pretty cool though, there just weren't enough cards in the set. Cards in the Scars block seem kind of underpowered overall too though, as compared to other recent blocks like Zendikar, Innistrad, and Alara. Not to say this is completely true, there are big exceptions, notably most notably Dismember, Mental Misstep, Wurmcoil Engine and the Heroes and Crusaders. I loved back in Rav the variety of cards in a pack and their distinct roles, even most of the commons. Whereas generally in Scars block each pack was generally similar (except New Phyrexia): monocolored cards with either Metalcraft for an underwhelming power or some Phyrexian ability (Infect, sacrifice a creature: do ____, often not that useful), instants and sorceries that I wouldn't be surprised seeing as a common in a core set (as in a standard for that color generic effect) and surprisingly few artifacts, especially good ones. Don't get me wrong, I pulled plenty Razorfield Rhinos and the like. And don’t tell me they’re “cards for limited” because just because a card is meant for limited doesn’t mean it has to suck and be uninteresting. The block did have good aspects, I just thought it could have been awesome, I mean it's a return to Mirrodin, and it was ok. Maybe that's just me.

@mdakw: Kinda makes sense, I guess... it is a wolf after all, and I guess that he settled for nothing but the most ferocious available =D

Why Voja being legendary isn't a problem: Feed the Pack.

@Lash: If you're suggesting to sac Voja to Feed the Pack, you cannot do that - Feed the Pack requires a non-token sacrifice (Otherwise, you could keep saccing the wolf tokens it creates every turn to get a free source of tokens).

Sadly, this is one of the few instances where Doubling season would actually do the OPPOSITE of being helpful. He creates a Legendary wolf token, which means they would kill each other when they came out; all thanks to doubling season.

I love how he has a wolf companion who keeps coming back, no matter what. Reminds me of Shadow of the Colosus!...

If only the token weren't legendary.. he's a six drop so it wouldn't be overpowered. It would make him playable.

This guy seems strong, but he is the same converted cost as primeval titan with much less thunder.

You might want to read the effect of Twilight Drover and the bit that says 'lots of counters' before you comment.

Parallel Lives/Doubling Season and Warstorm Surge makes Tolsimir read, "{T}: Deal 4 damage to target creature or player. Deal 4 damage to target creature or player."

I like how if Tolsimir dies, Voja becomes much weaker, as if (s)he (Voja sounds like a female name to me, but I'm not sure) is grieving the loss of h(er)is master.
