Heart of light likes Beacon of Destiny a little more. Blinding Powder only prevents combat damage. It wouldn't be too bad with Beacon of Destiny though.

I like it with Palace Guard; so long as you give him wings, it's like an artifact that says "Pay 2 mana; prevent all damage attacking creatures would deal on your opponent's next turn. Deal 1 damage to one of these creatures."

Linked to on TV tropes. Look up "A Handful for an Eye."

Does this prevent all damage a creature with trample would assign, or just the damage that would be assigned to the blocking creature?
@Joseph_Leito: Nothing against Kamigawa, dude! It had great art and flavor!

Since you can unattach it during your Main Phase to protect your creatures during combat, just use Puresteel Paladin to protect every creature you own from combat damage every single turn.

Does this stop combat damage redirected to a creature enchanted with pariah? Or does pariah become the source of the damage?

Puresteel Paladin essentially breaks this card outright when his ability kicks in.
You can, before combat, freely equip it to each creature, unattach it, then move it on to the next creature.
Us it with a Leonin Shikari and you can use it on your opponent's turns as well.
Essentially: "Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to creatures you control". and it's only a 1-drop.

Very neat with Palisade Giant, which is exceedingly hard to kill with noncombat damage and redirects every last point of combat damage onto itself. Honestly, this card's biggest issue is probably competition from Darksteel Plate (the plate is more expensive but has the same equip cost and only needs to be re-equipped when changing creatures, so assuming you use the powder once the plate has saved you mana overall). So what does this work better with?
Phyrexian Hydra, for starters. Witherscale Wurm for similar reasons. In general this is much better against infect/wither and is marginally better with instant speed equipping abilities like the Brass Squire exodus mentioned since you can protect multiple creatures a turn.

This is pretty great. In more aggro decks I still prefer Dolmen Gate, but this still has tons of uses.
