I have no idea why anyone should want to play this even if he wasn't legendary: Four mana (double-red) for a tiny 1/1 that can only deal damage to attacking creatures (not even at least blocking ones, as apposed to most white creautres' "combat shooter" effect) equal to the number of untapped mountains you control? Please, come on...

Can use ben ben with seismic strike, you can basically seismic strike twice. The 1/1 isn't nearly as bad with cards like goblin king in play as well.

I think his ability is playable. But like someone else said, Kamigawa was just a bad block. They didn't factor in Power and Toughness when pricing cards. This guy would have been decent as a 0 / 3 or something, since his ability suggests he's very defensive.

...urg, yeah... Ben-Ben is just very underwhelming. It would be interesting to see what kind of rating the little guy would have if he could shoot blocking creatures too, but as he stands, he's probably not worth .
I do like that he is rocking that octopus on his head, though! Akki are weird.
@ wolfbear2 - How often does red hold cards in hand (barring DD)? Red's usual playstyle revolves around emptying your hand as quickly as possible...with no cards, there's no mana tapped.
3 card combo, not that easy to do but with goblin tribal it isnt that far fetched Ben-ben + Mogg Maniac + Furnace of Rath turns your 5 mountains into 20 damage. owch

Nah. He costs too much to play and is very low P/T. And his ability is only attacking creatures and untapped mountains. So you have to hold back that many mountains to stop a creature from attacking. If it were target creature or just plain mountains, he would be a beast, but hes just too restricted.
