I am definitly getting this one. With a WoP deck, this suddenly becomes a reliable every turn creature kill.

Such a spectacular card, attacking unexpectedly and killing the opponents creatures.

B/R Rats would be a good deck. This card is rat-moval on a creature (Get it? Rat removal? Rat-moval? Me neither).

So black creatures don't have throats? They probably could have made it "destroy target tapped creature that player controls."

No better rat than Marrow Gnawer. However, this combos really well with Nezumi Cutthroat.

go for the throat proves black creatures do have a throat.

The Rat Ninjas have some surprisingly good synergy with Skull Collector. Makes for some great mindgames. Also, Dross Golem. It's that whole "fear nets me a free kill spell, then I'll just drop this guy again for some paltry sum of mana" thing that makes me all giddy.

tapped creatures wouldn't work, you have to be attacking to use her ability which means... no wait that would work.
still that would kinda make royal assassin better.
maybe it's just hard to sneak up on black creatures?
or maybe she just has a strong sense of respect for black creatures?

Wizards recently commented that the whole "non-black" restriction originated from the flavor on the Alpha Terror, which held that black and artifact creatures can't be scared to death. Later designers stuck to the restriction, even at the risk of losing flavor (like in this case). I'm just glad that Go for the Throat is out there, it complements these kick-ass Rat Ninjas well <3

I agree with the throat thing, the flavor seems wrong.
It always bugged me that this card could kill various Constructs, but not a Black Knight...
There are always exceptions, though.

(I'd also have more fun building a Ninjutsu deck without the restriction :P)

Ninjas <3 Ornithopter. A flying creature that you can ninjutsu all day for 0 CMC? Yes please.

Good lord, look at that weapon! It looks like it's specifically designed for cutting someone's throat. And she doesn't even care that she's giving the guy a chance to scream as he claws futilely at the earth.

This has got to be the most crude and brutal act of violence I've ever seen on a Magic card.

i dont even care about this cards abilities, still havent even read them, all i know is that some idiot decided it was cool to turn a filthy rodent into the words greatest assassin. this is a disgrace to all of ninjutsu

There is no flavor disconnect. Black creatures are just so badass they can't be snuck up on. (This is the legit reason)

why cant this rat ninja just as easily slit the throat of a zombie, vampire, bat, skeleton, evil human wizard, necromancer, or any other perfectly normal black creature, but can slit the throat of fire elemental? Sometimes, flavor simply doesn't match up
