Awesome art, and ability. Also points for looking like a giant crab mutant machine made out of shards of pink glass.

What does the ruling "Double has its normal English meaning" mean. what other meaning could it have? What player misread it so bad a judge had to make a ruling?

If I use Doubling Season and a Solarion has 5 +1/+1s and I tap it, does it make him a 15/15 (put 5 on and then double the 5 to 10, so 10+5) or a 20/20 (take all 5 off, put 10 on, double, so 10x2)?

a 15/15, I would think, since it's only adding 5 counters.

@LoisianaxLimey

I am not sure on the way it would work, but my interpretation of "double the number of +1/+1 counters on solarion." would translate into "Put a +1/+1 counter on solarion for each counter on solarion."

That would mean:

if you have a doubling season out and solarion has 5 counters on it, you would tap it to add 5 * 2(doubling season) and end up with a 15/15.

if you have a doubling season, then play solarion with max effect of sunburst, he would come into play with 10 counters because of doubling season, then tapping would mean add 10 counters * 2 for the season ending up with a 30/30.

Kulrath Knight basically makes this an any sunburst creature useless unless they have other abilities like the suncrusher.

Throw a Seedborn Muse in with Doubling Season and you quadruple the effect of Solarion. Just throwing that out there.

As someone has already mentioned, this dude is mean as a blocker since you can tap him after you declare blockers to double the counters.

However, if you give this dude Vigilance with something like Accorder's Shield you effectively get to use the same strategy while attacking. If they chump block you, don't tap him and you'll still have him as a defender that can double in size. If they let him through or try to kill him, double the counters.

It goes without saying that he's also great with Trample on him, so perhaps the best thing to do is equip him with Sword of Vengeance (+2/+0, First Strike, Vigilance, Trample, Haste).

TAP TO WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!
-.- I second Shadowflaam

Pro-Douchebag tip: Power out with Moxen, Artifact Lands, Sol Ring and Lotus Petal in a bitchin' Arcbound Ravager Affinity deck.

Seems like everybody forgets that guy has MODULAR on top of being like a 20/20 turn 2 in 'Artifact-Happy-Mana-of-Infinite-Magical-Christmas-Land' that we call: Magic the Gathering

This guy better be in From the Lab's you-know-it's-coming Riku of Two Refelections 'DAMNLoL! DAMNLoL! Doubling is Fun! Doubling is Fun!' deck....

So if I bring out Quirion Elves and choose purple for mana, could I conceivably get a Solarion that starts out at 6/6?

This+Experiment Kraj+Gilder Bairn. Double Kraj's counters by tapping him, then double them by untapping!

Heartstone or a similar card to reduce activated ability costs
Voltaic Construct
Solarion, paid for with any number of types of mana.

For an example, say it was paid with 2 mana colours. Assume you have 7 mana (since you played this last turn).
Starts as 2/2.
{T} - 4/4
Pay {1} for VC to untap it.
{T} - 8/8
Pay {1} for VC to untap it.
{T} - 16/16
Pay {1} for VC to untap it.
{T} - 32/32
Pay {1} for VC to untap it.
{T} - 64/64
Pay {1} for VC to untap it.
{T} - 128/128
Pay {1} for VC to untap it.
{T} - 256/256
Pay {1} for VC to untap it.
It is now free to attack.

You get the point; doubling can really be obscenely powerful. Even without the Heartstone, it gets to 16/16 with 3 taps.

For 2wubrg, I expect more then a 5/5 that slowly pumps itself. Evasion would have been nice, or haste.

@TheHandyman
No, purple is not a valid color choice as it does not exist in the multiverse... Pink on the other hand...
master_biomancer

@oristiti actually purple is a relevant mana color in unhinged. If you have in purple contact lens or something similar to change your eye color to purple and then summon an Avatar of Me purple becomes an actual color and therefore can be used for sunburst. ANYTING IS POSSIBLE IN UNHIGNIED!!!

What happens if you have multiple solarion in play. For example, check the 3rd ruling of ink-treader nephilim.

Wouldn't you double all counters on all solarions with one of them tapping ?
How do you ask wizards this question ?

If only it had haste.

I do like myself some exponential growth, though.

@Ninjastarr: Operating under the assumption that you're not just a troll (which is honestly more worrying), whenever a card uses its own name in its rules text it is referring to itself. Not all things with the same name. Replace "Solarion" with "THIS CREATURE" when referring to abilities like this.
